Needed to replace the auger motor on my smoker. It worked.

It seems to me that the industry has decided that what my T-----r grill needs is a 2rpm motor, not the 1rpm it was originally specd for. So, when I wanted to rebuild, I chose this modification to see if there's any improvement in the cooking. I can tell you this wasn't my favorite part to change... you basically need to take your grill down, all the way back to sub assemblies, in order to replace this monster. It wasn't awful, but it sure wasn't fun. Alas, it fit fine, and seems to work well. It's quieter than the 12 year old motor it replaced, and that's a plus. I can see that the pellet delivery is quicker, but I believe the controller now needs to relearn how to maintain temp based on the added fuel flow. I allowed a 1 hour test burn in order to break it in, and hopefully help to reset the controller to the new speeds before cooking over it. I think that's just a wise idea anyhow, and would recommend it for any new installation. Speaking of, I did notice that the attachment bolt isn't fully threaded, unlike the OEM. This prevents snugging down that connection the way I would usually, but it's not required to maintain operation, so it's really not a big deal either way. I replaced this item in conjunction with a higher speed fan, from the same manufacturer and a stainless burn pot & igniter from another make. It was clear to me that the combination produced a greater volume of smoke, which will likely lead to a better pit type flavor in the long run. This motor worked for me, at least in the short-term, and seems to be an improvement in performance... but I have yet to see if that will result in better food. For the time being, I'll rate it 4 stars, and tell you it's worthy of your consideration if you're already in the market for replacement parts. I'm not sure I'd do a tear-down just to install this however. Doesn't seem to be that big of a difference, to me.

Could have been the same factory making this auger motor as the OEM as I can see any differences. Much better price point than what Treager offers for their branded. I jumped the gun and by looking at the photo I thought I was purchasing just a fan replacement right after purchasing and auger motor. I am keeping it as a back up for if the other replacement goes down my smoker will have less down time than searching a having to wait for shipping. Installation is easy once I had emptied the pellets out of the hopper. Then a a couple of screws to remove and the hopper comes off giving to direct access to the auger and motor. I recommend doing all the work at once by replacing the controller, auger, ignition rod, burn pot and sensor all at once.

This was a perfect replacement for the auger drive in my Pit Boss Austin XL pellet smoker. It took me about 30 mins to change it out. Easy. Plug and play. Plug and cook. Far better priced.

Looks, feels, and functions the same as (if not better than) the OEM part. The auger motor was skipping and getting very weak in my Pit Boss Austin XL, and this replacement part solved the problem. Highly recommended as a good value alternative to the OEM part.

My smoker's auger stopped working just as I was going to make some jerky. I ordered this part to replace the pellet auger motor on the Pit Boss Austin XL. There were no instructions but more than a few YouTube videos to show you the way. I also looked up a wiring diagram as I finished to ensure everything was plugged in correctly. It's all pretty intuitive except for the Allen wrench needed for disconnecting the motor from the shaft. That's a unique size and I ended up using pliers and a socket to get the job done. The new motor worked great in a test run. Hopefully it has longevity!

I ordered two different 2RPM Pit Boss auger motors, one for immediate upgrade and the other far a spare. They are both pretty similar, almost identical, but i think the Meatender seems to be more well-made by a bit. Maybe just has better tolerances or better materials, I cant say for sure, but this will probably be the one that goes in right away and the other will be our spare.
