  • Great indoor leaf-style antenna. Long cable length and amplifier. Great paired with Tablo
This is a good inexpensive indoor leaf-style antenna to pick up over-the-air (OTA) TV channels that comes with a very long 16ft coax cable and amplifier. I can pick up all my local OTA TV channels with this and at half the price of the leading Mohu leaf 50. Use a website (e.g. tablotv.com/channel-detail-report, rabbitears.info/searchmap.php, or something similar) to determine where your local OTA antenna towers are located to point in that direction and then place it in the highest part of your house/apartment as possible. The higher the placement the better. The websites will also tell you if an indoor antenna will work or not and what channels are expected before purchasing. My OTA towers are within 35 miles, but I think this will work up to 50 miles away. I have mine placed against the upstairs indoor sheetrock wall of a room and able to pick up all the OTA signals without needing to place in a window or using the included amplifier. I have this single antenna working with a Tablo 4th gen OTA DVR (sold separately) to not only record content but to further re-distribute the signal through the home Internet Wifi to other devices (multiple TVs with either an Amazon Fire TV stick/Roku or phones/tablets that can run the Tablo app). The Tablo app can also help you find the direction of the OTA antenna towers and give you the signal strength of each channel or for better antenna positioning. No more needing to buy multiple antennas for OTA content and great for cord cutting. ... show more

  • OH SURE, IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR GOOD MILEAGE FROM AN ANTENNA, THIS IS THE ONE !!
What the heck, who suggested mileage as a rating on this, Barney or Blues Clues ? The antenna is as described, high quality and easy to install. I live on the outskirts of a large metropolis and get a varying number of channels, sometimes as many as 40 or so. I recommend this purchase.

  • Good product - didn't work for me -- helpful tips
Pros: 1byone was a 5 star vendor with me on this product but the antenna itself is a 4. Their support was responsive, helpful, and accommodating. I would def consider buying products from them in the future. Cons: The directions / info on how to set up could be much better. Specially in regards to older, dumb tvs. Thoughts: If you live or have a cabin somewhere without wifi or cable or satellite, then an antenna may be helpful. You will definitely get more channels to show up than without one. Many of the channels that show up will not display and or give a message like: weak signal/adjust your antenna. Some will work. Some channels work even if it says the reception is poor. Antennas are a bit life wifi - sensitive to direction and placement. And other things. I'm 200ft up in a building with no obstructions. I scanned for 43 channels, got 20 or so to show up, and would only watch maybe 8 of them (personal choice). I'm hoping I'll be able to get college and pro football games via local channels when fall comes. If you have internet, there isn't much reason to expect much from an antenna. There are so many options for everything and a lot of it free. I specially like Haystack for local news. This assumes a smart tv. If you don't have one, a Firestick or Roku will make any dumb tv smart if it has the ports. If you DON't - if your tv doesn't have an hdmi port -- then you can't use this product. I thinks these antenna sellers could help buyers to manage expectations by explaining things in more detail. In the manual first and foremost then via FAQs, Amazon questions, and customer support --- by phone. Takes too long to type issues. As the well know Italian painter/sculptor had as his motto: " Ancora imparo" (I'm still learning) Happy viewing. ... show more

  • Waste of time and money for me
UPDATE 10/25/2016: I cannot get more than 70 channels anymore. Of the 70, maybe 5 are in English and aren't shopping channels. And I get only one major network. So this product doesn't work for me in the end. I tried moving the antenna 50 different times, which only resulted in using more doublesided tape and a lot of tape residue all over my window. UPDATE 10/18/2016: The antenna was inadvertently moved and now for the life of me I cannot get more than maybe 70 channels, most of which are NOT major network channels. At this point I'm rather disappointed and have spent a lot of time experimenting with placement and am getting about 1/2 of the total channels as before. I decided to finally cut the cable cord and bought this antenna as a similar type came highly recommended but this one was considerably less expensive. I live just 20 miles from downtown LA so I figured the 50 mile radius would be more than enough. Perhaps 20-30 miles would have been fine, or even rabbit ears. Either way, at last search I had 124 channels! Mind you, it's important to search and search again and again and again and move the antenna around, up and down, on its back, flat, on the wall, in a window, etc. For me the window facing north works best. I live in a courtyard style apartment complex on the first of two floors yet I guess that doesn't matter as it must penetrate structures/trees, etc. in some way that I don't understand. I do think there are many, many variables to consider, including weather (which I don't have) and perhaps wind in particular. It seems that even if you put the antenna in a fixed location, your channels and reception will vary from time to time. When that happens, I'd suggest searching and searching again and so on. Getting ABC to come in took several tries. It finally happened when I got up to 121 channels I think. Even then it's not real clear but I know if I fiddle with the antenna's location a tad it will come in fine. That of course means that once the antenna is moved even a bit, other channels might be lost or at less viewable. Yet you might get some channels that you previously did not. Oddly enough I have a local San Diego CBS channel which comes in great, even though I am roughly 100 miles north of San Diego (and my antenna faces north, not south). While 124 channels may sound fantastic, I would say at least 2/3 of them are in languages I don't speak. I've realized that there is so much better tv to be found with an antenna instead of with cable. Some examples in the past few days: "Barney Miller," "The Mary Tyler Moore," "The White Shadow" and "Charlie's Angels," not to mention terrific classic movies like "The Great Escape." Sure, I might be dating myself but this stuff is more watchable to me than any reality tv program of today. Since most of what I watch besides live sports is nothing in particular, preferring to channel-surf mindlessly, this works out A-OK for me. One issue is that with antenna tv, unless you have a tv guide and/or want to go online to check every channel's website for listings, you really don't know what is on and when. And the descriptions (when they appear) for shows are often very basic. Perhaps someone has a suggestion on how I can easily find out what each local channel is broadcasting. Ultimately I wish I had done this years ago. With streaming MLB & NBA subscriptions plus Sling TV when needed (for ESPN, TNT, TBS and other channels that show MLB & NBA playoff games live that are not usually shown streaming online even with subscription), I am going to save tons and am a happy camper. Note: MLB Extra Innings on cable (which my dad has, 100 miles away) now comes with a free subscription to its streaming online service (which is normally $110-$130 of late) so it's a boon for me as I use that for free. It's been close to a month and I am now getting 149 channels. Some are pixelated/unclear but that's a lot of channels! ... show more
