  • Well, that about covers it...
Well, that about covers it... Like so many of my Amazon purchases, I used this for something other than the manufacturer intended. In my case, it's not a kayak, it's a double scull rowing shell. With a cover which has a couple of pull-straps for the main stability/taut-maintaining purpose. But there were also a half-dozen other locations just crying out for bungees to snub it up. I also wanted soft clips; the typical retail bungee had wire clips. Over time, those would scar the gelcoat (not paint - a particular product used by makers of watercraft both to allow the fiberglass layup to release from the mold, and to prevent water ingress to the layup). Enter these plastic hooks. As the shell is oriented on our launch platform (I used rollers and frames obtained from - you guessed it - Amazon to allow easy in/out during use) such that it's water on the far side, not a platform, I needed something permanent on that side, and clips on the dock side. And they needed to be different lengths. Voila. New stainless steel screws (yes, stainless - see my pic of my magnetic driver picking up, through the package, some galvanized steel screws while ignoring one of these), nice strap firmware (I also have some of them in stainless hardware; plastic is firm but not as strong, and thus my nickname) and J-hooks all go into my bin-of-many-drawers, awaiting other needs. Unfortunately for me (and you) my cell was in a dead zone when I installed all the pieces to make my custom-length, just as I needed, strapping for my shell. So, when I took pictures and sent them to myself, they disappeared into the ether. I'll get more at some point and send them along, but for now, know that I like it, and have most of the bungee cord left for other projects. GRRR (my phone/camera)... ... show more

  • Good for new rigging
The screws look like they are rust resistant. I prefer to use waterproof rivets or bolts (less likely to get poked) but they look like good quality screws. The holes for the tiedown pads don't match the ones I already have on my kayak. If I'm replacing what is already there, I'll need new holes. There's a picture attached. The spacing between the center of the holes on the large piece is about 6.5cm (2-7/16") and for the small is about 3.3cm (1-5/16"). Keep this in mind if you're buying this to replace some broken tie downs. They might not fit. The tie downs are strong. I put a lot of pressure on them and they don't break. I'm sure if you really tried, you could, but they should survive most normal use. The end clips don't seem as sturdy. The locking part is pretty thin. I used my hands to put pressure on them and they held up. But I'm not sure how long they would hold under real stress. As long as they are oriented so the stress is in the hook and not the locking clasp, they should be fine. The elastic is about 5mm thick. It will stretch to twice it's original length. I clamped the end to a yard stick, marked 4 inches, then pulled as much as I could and the mark made it to 8 inches. It seems good quality. It's not diamond weave so it's slick. That's good if you want it to move, but not as good if you're depending on friction to hold things in place. Overall, this seems like a good kit if you're looking to add some rigging to a kayak, canoe, or boat. It doesn't seem as good to replace broken stuff. ... show more

  • Great Assortment of Clips and Hardware
This kit came with everything I need for my kayak. There is plenty of stretchy cord for securing bags and things to the J-hooks so they won't float away if I get swamped. The pad eyes are large enough to accommodate carabiners and bowlines, and there are lots of them! It even came with some carabiners and hardware for mounting the clips to the kayak. These are not waterproof (no gaskets), so they should only be used above the waterline. ... show more

  • Let's go yaking
These are some good quality replacement pieces for your kayak. They're pretty strong too. I needed some of the little tie down eyes for my new seat and they work great. They've already been abused and are holding up well. This is definitely a nice set to have on hand.

  • Good Bungee Kit
I used this kit to secure a tarp over my carport. It worked out well, made installation easy. Every bungee I made was a custom fit. No more searching for the right size bungee cord and of course not having it. The build quality is average. All the clips and tie downs are plastic. This is not a heavy-duty kit but works well for tie downs that are not critical. Bungee cord is soft and should be comfortable. If you need a custom light duty bungee kit, this is a good value. Would Recommend. ... show more

  • Good value
Good quality accessories. Really there's more in this kit than I'll probably ever need, but always good to have extras! Good value for price.

  • I used it to attach to a duck boat to hold lots of loose thing
Nice set of clip and binders, I used it to attach to a duck boat to hold lots of loose things which are often hanging around. so not just for a kayak but any boat or task securing things to something like PE plastics should work well.

  • Decent tie down kit
I'm a huge kayak adventurer and I'm often making kayak camping trips. I don't necessarily paddle a long ways but where I do paddle I take a lot of gear. So, I need a lot of tie down spots on my kayaks so as not to lose my gear while paddling over choppy open water. I needed to fit some more footman loops on my kayak and the bungee/footman loop/connector pieces with this kit work great. So while any hardware like this usually starts out fine, the real test is the test of time. After a year or two I'll know whether the screws are actually stainless steel other metal prone to rust, and whether the bungee holds up under the Florida sun, and whether or not the footman loops and other hard plastic hardware turns brittle and cracks under impact. If this kit underperforms I will definitely be back to edit this review. right now, seems to be a pretty good kit. ... show more
