Im gonna give it 4 stars because its a great starter/D.I.Y gift I personally bought the kit for some bullet lighters im making :) it worked but I wouldn’t recommend trying to cut hard metals works great in brass/copper but steel has a hard time. I’ve read reviews about the tool getting really hot and to be honest I used it for around 5-10 minutes cutting a hard peice of steel and it was barely warm :) I recommend buying some better metal working/cutting tips but besides that this is a great starter kit ... show more

I just used this tool this morning to enlarge insets for new door hinges. It met my needs. It was easy to change out the bits. I’ve never used a tool like this before, so I can’t compare it to other brands. The speed seemed appropriate. It’s functional and with all the different bits and accessories it’s versatile. The tip did get hot, but I’m sure that’s normal because of all the friction. I’ll have to find something else to use it for in the future. Maybe I’ll take up carving… ;) ... show more

Im not sure how this product has so many great reviews. It is as expected for a tool of its price. It worked all of about 2 weeks. The first part to immediately break the first day of use was the pen extension. Worked one time. The second i took it off the entire piece shot apart loaded by the spring inside. Next, the locking mechanism that holds the attachments, literally the most important part of the device lasted 2-3 weeks. Of probably 1-2 days a week of use for maybe 2 hours a day, stopped locking attachments in place and the second it started rotating it would unlock itself and the attachment would dangerously spin in place waiting to fly off and take an eye out. Its simple enough to use, but of course a dremel is a dremel. The wheel is simple to use because its a wheel. The speed variable isnt important because the device doesnt have enough power for any speed except for wide open to be useful. Size and design, all normal for the type of device youre buying. Now normally i would read a review like this and think "this is just a bias review from a negative nancy that would have been hyper critical no matter what" and "you knew what you were buying", but listen yall. If you cant afford a real dremel do yourself a huge favor and just wait until you can. I bought a name brand dremel yesterday and im coming back to write this review because i was so impressed by the quality, the feel, the function and power and intuitive ease of use, that i felt it my civic duty to warn everybody just to spend a little extra when you buy your tools no matter how small the hobbies youre using them for, and you'll save yourself so much frustration. Youre just throwing your money into the aether when you buy cheap mass manufactured chinese crap like this. Ive had some cheap tools that were great from harbor freight, chicago electric and bauer specifically where you can spend $20 and get a tool that would last a casual hobbyist 10 years. I CANNOT EXPRESS ENOUGH THE JUNK THAT THIS TOOL IS. If you read all of my rant, thank you for listening ... show more
