Exactly what I was looking for. Should keep the critters out of my garden from below.

Good product for a fair price. Cuts easy enough with wire cutters.

  • Small gauge keeps out lots of critters!
Size Name: 1/2inch 16inch×10ft
I used this for a small garden enclosure to keep iguanas out and it’s worked well so far. The 1/2 inch grid is tight enough that nothing has been getting through, which was my main concern. The small size spaces also gives versatility for keeping other pests and animals away from your garden. The wire feels fairly sturdy for 19 gauge. It’s not super heavy duty, but it has a nice thickness that holds its shape once you secure it. I was able to cut it with wire cutters without too much trouble, though it does take some hand strength. Definitely wear gloves because the cut ends are sharp! The roll came packed tightly and took a bit of effort to flatten out. Once I stapled it to my wooden frame it stayed in place fine. The galvanized coating looks even and hasn’t shown any rust yet, but it’s only been outside a few weeks. Time will tell how it holds up through weather. For the price and size, I think it’s a good value, especially for basic garden or chicken coop projects. Just not something I would use if you need really heavy duty fencing. ... show more

  • Super handy stuff to have!!! (16" is not tall enough to protect your plants)
Size Name: 1/2inch 16inch×10ft
OVERALL: Sturdy, dependable stuff. Great to have around. 10 FOOT ROLL: Good for small projects. Reinforcing outdoor enclosures. Home improvement. HC is NOT ideal for garden fencing/protective measures of edible plants. --------- Hardware Cloth, not Chicken wire. HC is much more sturdy, but more expensive. Smaller holes. Use where strength is necessary, like in catios or chicken coops (at the bottom at least, bury in ground a bit). Chicken wire is sold in wider rolls, and is cheaper. ---------- SMALL PROJECTS: -We used it to make a ventilated ‘shelf’ in our fridge. We have two of the deep pans you see in restaurants, for holding veggies and mushrooms. To save space we stack them, and used this to make a mid that the top one can sit on while still letting air flow. {Taking mushrooms out of the plastic and into a paper bag in the fridge will help prevent them going mushy and gross} -Also have used this to make the bottom of wormbins for worm casting composting. Made a frame out of scrap wood, and used a pneumatic stapler to attach. ANIMAL ENCLOSURES: -Bury into the ground to prevent digging under by predators. Better for coops than chicken wire, ironically, because it is stronger stuff. GARDENING?? -For gardening, this really isn't enough (10ft roll) to make a protective cage. Bunnies can hop, deer can bend over, and squirrels can climb. At 16" high, this won't do much just as a fence. Even a 3ft fence would not stop a deer. -You could use this to make a cloche/cage for your plants, but it would be more cost effective to use chicken wire. If that's not an option, then you can use this. You will need far more than 10ft. -Use for in-bed worm composting. (Make a hole, stick a cylinder of this in it. Fill hole with food scraps (no meat)) -Bottom of trays for DIY worm composting system. WHAT SHOULD I USE TO PROTECT MY GARDEN???? (Unfortunately, it seems getting a genai to write reviews is getting more common, so bear that in mind, when you see some reviews saying how great this works to protect veggie plants....in January.) -Deer repellent spray: smells gross, and that's the point. "Liquid Fence" is a brand I have used with success. -Cages: I have repurposed the cages sole for bunnies/guinea pigs/ect to protect my peppers. Just use the wire top, and set on top. You might need to prop them up a bit as the plants grow. You could USE THIS STUFF to make a frame/fence and then set something else on top. -Dog crates: most come with a divider that is coated metal. I lay that on top of some of the other cages to make a makeshift lid -The square grid panels that you connect together to make shelves. I zip tie them together to make 'cloches'/cages. To make a bigger panel, zip tie a stick across two or more to keep them from flopping. ... show more

  • A good small project roll of 1/2" hardware cloth (wire)
Size Name: 1/2inch 16inch×10ft
I ordered this ArdeFentium hardware cloth (wire) for some garden projects, but it would also work well for rabbit, chicken, or other animal enclosures. In the past I've also used the 1/2" hardware cloth as screens on basement windows to keep critters out. One garden use is to make removeable panels to go around raised beds. In this case I make two wooden frames and staple the ArdeFentium hardware cloth to one frame and then screw the second frame to the first, sandwiching the hardware cloth wire between the two frames. This roll of wire measures 15-3/4", not quite the 16" the listing claims. I didn't measure the length. Hardware cloth is stiffer and stronger than traditional chicken wire. This 1/2" mesh, 19ga hardware cloth is the sweet spot for a variety of uses. The 19 gauge is strong enough to keep most predators out while still being flexible enough to be easy to work with. Wear good gloves while working with the wire, it has lots of sharp points, especially when you start cutting it to size. I frequently clamp it down to keep it from curling and make my cuts that way with one board above and one below it. The board below so that I space it off the work surface to get the cutters in and the board on top to keep it down evenly (photo only shows the board on top). Many different wire cutters will work but preferably ones where the cutting portion is at the tip, not at the back because it goes quicker with the 1/2" mesh. The value for this roll is primarily if you only need a 10 foot or less piece. If you need a longer length, then the value isn't there for you because longer rolls are cheaper per linear foot. It has the durability you would expect from 19ga hardware cloth. Being hot dipped galvanized, the hardware cloth should have good resistance to outdoor weather and last for years. ... show more
