This is a compact handheld console with 100 old-school 16-bit games, including side scrollers, fighters, sports, racing, and platformers. I got the purple version, though it is also available in blue or gray. The box includes the console, a USB-Micro charging cable, a 1/8" to RCA A/V adapter, and instructions. The console is 3.1" wide × 5" tall × 0.75" thick. It features a 2.8" display, D-pad, Y/X/L/A/B/R buttons, and Home, Select, Start, and Volume controls. There’s a speaker port in the lower right corner, a power button on the right side, and the top edge has the USB-Micro port and 1/8" plug port. There are also two lights near the top: green when the console is on, and red when it is charging. Unfortunately, there’s no way to check the remaining battery level except by whether the unit turns on (thus, some battery left) or the charging light turns off (fully charged). In other words, you won’t know if it’s almost dead until it shuts off or nearly full until it finishes charging. Mine arrived partially charged, but I charged it fully before use. Charging took a few hours, and after a short play session, it again took quite a while to recharge, suggesting slow charging. That might be a side effect of the USB-Micro port. The manual claims up to six hours of play on a full charge. The display is bright and clear, and the games I tested ran smoothly. Audio has four simple levels which I would describe as Loud, Normal, Soft, and Off. All the buttons and the D-pad feel responsive. Overall, it’s a simple but enjoyable system that plays the included titles well. The price seems fair for what you get, though the lack of a battery indicator is a definite drawback.

I always like to try a game handheld because I always find myself in a situation where I am stuck waiting and this is the best way to kill time. I was surprised by this one after all the others I have tried. Usually these come packed with 500 8 bit Nintendo games with 30 different versions of each game which gets boring real fast. This is the first time I have come across one loaded with 16 bit Genesis and Super Nintendo games. Between the 2 consoles it fills up most of the storage with just one version of each game. The casing is a little better quality than the usual handheld like this and the screen seems to be a improved from the usual display you find in these. There are some games in other languages and some games don't work but for the most part the majority are playable. The volume is way too high even on the lowest setting and will annoy the hell out of anyone in a public setting. Don't give you kid to play this at the doctors office. While it was nice to finally see one of these using 16 bit games it is essentially the same handheld you get with the 8 bit games. For the price you should expect a limited lifespan and no ability to connect to anything that will allow you to change roms so you get what you pay for. The battery life is decent but nothing spectacular so you can usually have enough juice to get through whatever you were using this to kill time for. This is probably much better for kids who don't need any extra features and can break this without anyone worrying about wasting a lot of money. A cheap entertainment solution that will give you at least some level of fun before it breaks.

This is a nice little handheld emulator console running a selection of what seem to be SEGA Genesis games. Buttons are clicky and responsive. The games I tried all ran smoothly with no lags or distortions. The volume is adjustable via a small selection of preset levels or muted. I love the retro look, especially with the transparent purple version I got. There's an output to put the display on a bigger screen, though I don't have the right hookups to test it, and I wouldn't bother anyway. If you're getting something like this, it's to use on the go. If you wanted to play on a bigger screen, you'd just set up a dedicated emulator. Speaking of the screen, that's the first downside, as it's pretty basic and VERY directional. If you aren't looking at it dead on center, it'll look pretty off. There's also no save state option, which means you're limited to as far as you can play through any given game in a single sitting. No multi-session playing. Four stars because there are certainly better handheld consoles like this out there, but for the price you're paying, it's more than a fair bargain. As long as you understand the limitations, you're getting a whole pile of legitimately fun games in a super straightforward device that you just turn on, and it works. Hand it to your kids to keep them busy on a road trip, or play it yourself.
