My campus does not provide calculators for on level science classes. I had a hodgepodge of 5 different kinds of calculators for my classroom and not enough for every student to have one. When giving instructions for complicated chemistry problems, it really helps if you can give everybody the same directions for how to enter the problems into the calculator. I was able to get a class set 5 years ago through Donors Choose, but those calculators are starting to die off after years of heavy usage. These calculators have the exact same layout as the Casio fx-300MS so I could buy just one set of 10 to augment my supply. They were a great bargain. Teachers shouldn't have to buy calculators for their classrooms, but since this is the realitiy of the situation, I'm glad to have a solution. I really like that these are battery operated with very inexpensive button batteries because the solar panels on my Casios have become degraded over time and don't work as well.

Overall these calculators work fine, mimicking a Casio layout that I am familiar with. My big complaint is that sometimes buttons don't work on the first push. you have to go slow and watch carefully to make sure it doesn't miss digits. These are loaners for students on quizzes/exams and I have to warn them to watch carefully that their numbers enter correctly.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! DO NOT BUY THESE!!! Used some of my left over classroom budget from last year to buy ahead for this year. We needed calculators for high school algebra. Started working on PEMDAS today only to discover that these "scientific calculators" don't do order of operations! Totally useless!

I ordered 2 sets of these calculators to be used in my classroom during summer school into the regular school year. The batteries started dying which meant I needed to buy replacement batteries. The replacement batteries listed in the item description do not fit as they are more narrow than the original batteries.
