My experience has been excellent. The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS display is bright, sharp, and comfortable for both working and watching videos. I really like this computer because the screen and keyboard work together seamlessly; you can tilt the screen back to whatever angle suits you best. If you only need the screen—say, to watch TV—the keyboard sits behind it, keeping things visually clean and uncluttered. Another feature I love is the LED lighting under the keyboard; the lights all snap on at once, creating a striking visual effect that signals the keyboard is active, and they automatically turn off after three seconds of inactivity. Startup takes a little time initially—since you have to set up an account and run Windows updates—but once everything is configured, the performance is great. I got this laptop for my daughter, she's 7 and had recently started using laptops in school. I figured given what she's been tasked with so far, the price point and this being convertible, I felt this was best suited for her instead of her older brother. Those feelings were justified after a few days of use. What do we like, not like? What we like: My daughter loves the convertible feature of this laptop. As shes more accustomed to a tablet, having the ability to essentially make this one, was a huge win for her. She can fold it in half, load up her favorite streaming app and she's off and running. Battery life, seems pretty good. Honestly hard to judge because my daughter refuses to run on a battery unless she has to. Has a camera, which is nice for Skype etc but expectations should be low. Charges via USB C, cable could be a tad longer but is still a good length. What we dont like, but make sense given the price point: Not that fastest laptop. She was able to play Minecraft on this, no dedicated GPU obviously, and it ran just fine. However, we have seen slowdown. Typically when launching a browser, the url/search box doesn't recognize typing right away. However, I'm inclined to believe this is a Windows, Edge concern not the system. If you open up Google docs, typing is fast and responsive. I went as far as deleting as much bloatware as I could, wasnt much honestly, in order to help performance but didnt make a big difference. Speakers are awful. Expected though given the price point. Kids typically use headphones in school, so low quality speakers make sense. What's annoying: Why is the power button on the middle of the right side of the keyboard, next to USB ports? I've accidentally hit the button 3 times in my limited use. I thought it was just me and my clumsy hands but turns out, my daughter has done it too. You shouldn't be able to easily, accidentally power off a device. This laptop gets hot when in use and plugged in. My daughter found out the hard way not to let this sit on her lap for an extended time while plugged in. She was like a frog in a pot of water being boiled. She didnt notice that her legs had turned red until after she was done with a particular session. She wasnt hurt and maybe she shouldve known better but the air vents are all on the bottom and they dont move a ton of air. Considering the thickness, fan quality and the fact she was charging, it makes sense. I would definitely suggest a laptop fan or pad. Why I gave it 4 stars despite the concerns: For the price point and the target market, this makes sense. Thin, versatile, has a touch screen and offers everything a student may need. Long term I might be concerned about the vendor, not sure what bios or firmware upgrades will look like in the future. Im a computer Systems Administrator so security and keeping computers up to date is important to me. However, if you just need to get through school, this will get the job done. ... show more
