  • Very nice output. Large range of optical zoom then more with digital!
Very happy with this unit after 3-4 weeks of use. Very clear camera output. Support structure is decent quality and solid. Need tools for assembly are included. Easy 5 min assembly. Just plug HDMI cable from camera to monitor and go. Easy peasy. Using this for inspecting PCBs. Paired it with a 13" 1920x1080 IPS monitor. This works out very well because the camera output and the monitor res match exactly. The monitor size sounds small but works well as you can position it close to the camera and the object being examined. Optically the camera is very clear and the smooth solid feeling focusing knob allows a good range of motion to bring the object into sharp focus. The focus does change as the optical zoom lens is increased. So you will want to fiddle with the vertical camera position on the mounting rod to allow maximum travel in the focus elevation as the zoom increases. You will need the included light ring or other light source because as the camera zoom increases the picture gets dark. The included light ring is dimmable to set the required light level for what you are viewing. Sometimes a dimmer light works better specially for shiny objects. We do most of our work at the lowest zoom level or nearly so. This gives a good wide view with good clarity. However, the optical zoom really does zoom in close with no loss of sharpness. Then the camera has digital zoom beyond that. Much more zoom than we need. Still very clear even at max zoom. The original LED ring which came with this unit was defective but the company sent a replacement right away. No fuss no muss. You will need to figure out the best position for the cord and controls on the light as it is fixed to the body of the camera and can't be freely rotated. However, the camera itself can be freely rotated as needed. I think the camera controls allow the picture to be flipped if you need to adjust the picture so the object matches the image on the monitor. Hopefully that makes sense. Bottom line: I think this combo a very good value for $300 plus a $140 monitor. A little steep for casual home use IMHO but for any kind of regular or professional use it is a good value. Similar spec units from PCB supply houses are easily $2k+ for something like this. Recommended. ... show more

  • Love the HDMI output on the 14MP unit
I use this mostly on HDMI direct to a monitor and also split through to a HDMI capture board, so I can't give a lot of feedback on the USB, software or SD card features. As far as the HDMI output goes this microscope is great. I use it for placing and soldering SMT components on circuit boards and troubleshooting similar. There are two zoom ranges with this lens assembly but they require some messing around to find the distance and focus for each. Once you find them it's pretty easy to do super close up inspection work, or back off a little bit to see more for soldering, etc. The attached photos (cellphone photos of an LCD monitor, actual images are better lit) show an ATMEGA8 processor which is 9mm x 9mm and a close up of it's legs which are each 0.3 to 0.45mm wide. Like another reviewer, I had to label the ring light and microscope power supply leads to make sure I didn't mix them up since they both look the same, but are not. ... show more

  • good image quality.
The image for the 16 mp is excellent. The whole system is easy to setup. You can almost have it ready and running with the Hayear measuremnet software within 10 minutes after receiving package. I use the equipment for QC measurement of first articles of machined parts. And this is an excellent tool compared to using calipers, micrometers and pin gages. I get more precision out of this setup. I can check for cicular holes round out, concentricity , squareness and more other basic features of the software. The single most deciding factor is the price as compared to full fledged optical imaging system ... show more

  • Great for SMD work
I was using an optical microscope at work and it was a pain in the neck to use. This is so much better. Easier on the neck as I'm not bent over trying to see what I'm doing.

  • No Support and Never any updates.
I purchased this item some time ago, it worked well until recently. My Windows 10 updated and now it no longer works. I contacted support and they gave me very generic instructions that did absolutely NOTHING to fix the issue. I contacted them again and they just blew me off, no support, no fix. Its a useless expensive paperweight now. People need to understand this company does not care about you or it's product, they only care about selling you the product. ... show more

  • AMAZING WORTH EVERY PENNY
AMAZING. we are using this on an engine mill to do inspection work on machined moly components to look for scratches... its absolutely amazing. the LED array could use a little work (but only because we need specific lighting for our application) overall a great buy. i wish i had one of these at my home. ... show more

  • DOA
No video output, just 2 boxes in left corner of screen with garbled lines. Price is way to high for QC issues like this, highly disgusted.

  • Great for Electronics repair
Great resolution, I can zoom in very close to the boards. Very clear. there seems to be a little lag so not the best for doing closeup soldering. It does the job That I bought it for.
