  • WOW I am glad I finally upgraded from my old VGA KVM to this
I had been using my TrippLite VGA KVM for years and putting up with a pretty terrible picture for such a long time. Finally after realizing nearly all my regularly used machines had HDMI natively, I ditched all the VGA cables and dongles and this little generic (model HK401, no brand name at all) arrived today. The improvement in video quality when using this KVM was IMMEDIATE. I'm so pleased with this thing and it was very reasonably priced (under $60). It's so small I couldnt even believe it was a 4 device KVM, but here it is driving 3 PCs of mine, 2 Macs, one Linux and one I use for when my laptop is upstairs, and it works amazingly, no issues. Audio passes through to my monitor for the active device, meaning no more need for an external pair of speakers. So much less clutter on the desk now. Pros: - it's tiny! You can see in the first picture how it compares in size to my old TrippLite KVM. - No external power supply needed. Another win for this device that I didn't even realize I wanted. Grabs power from the device(s) you are controlling, and has no problem powering my keyboard with backlight and optical mouse. - Less expensive than other HDMI KVMs I've looked at and much less than my old VGA one. - Provides an incredible picture at least compared to my previous VGA KVM. - Love the controller cables, obviously they are some proprietary format with HDMI on one end but on the other is both HDMI and a USB port. Cables feel sturdy but flexible and I like the greenish/cyan color. Cons (not many, but a few) - When pushing the button to switch inputs on the unit it sounds a little hollow. A very minor nitpick. - I'd probably prefer it to be a little bigger actually, if it means all the cables could be on one side (i.e. the back). As it is, the HDMI ports are one of the long sides of the unit, and the USB inputs are on the other. I ended up just placing it on my desk sideways until I tidy it up the cables more (second picture). Or maybe I'll leave it as is. - Finally, I do wish it came with an HDMI-HDMI cable to connect up to the monitor. Presumably they assume you're already using at least one HDMI device, I'm probably a pretty odd case in that I was not. Overall though I'm very happy with this purchase, whatever company made it should stamp their name all over it because they made one great product! ... show more

  • Didn't last
The price was cheap and I caved. Not a true KVM, more of a switch and was mostly fine. Every once in a while it would stop responding and would require all wires to be removed and replugged before it would work again. Yesterday it just died. All of the lights are on, you can change the inputs but the peripherals do not connect to the computer; they work when plugged in directly. ... show more

  • Does what it's supposed to do
I'll preface my review by saying I'm not using this as a full on KVM, primarily, none of the "M" is being leveraged with this product. I bought this to replace another 2 computer KVM that I used with my windows work laptop and my windows desktop since I needed to add a M1 Mac mini to the mix. Mainly just use a mouse and a wireless keyboard dongle, out of the box, it works like a champ with basically plug and play setup. I connected the HDMIs to the box, connected only the USB ends to the computers, added my wireless keyboard dongle and my mouse to the other side, and done! I was able to switch between all inputs via the buttons on the top. If I had to nitpick, and REALLY nitpick, I'd have to say the light indicator for which output you're using is very dim to the point that you can't see it. Not a problem for me personally, but it's the only hinderance to the experience. Otherwise, works perfectly. If your use case is similar to mine, go forth and conquer. I'll try to update my review a few months down the road. ... show more

  • Don’t bother
I got the unit and it didn’t work. I put it aside so that I could get back to what I was working on. About a month later I picked it up again and still couldn’t get it to work, so I put it away again. I needed to get it straight nearly a year later, so I pulled it out again and followed the instruction “manual”. It STILL DID NOT WORK! I thought I would tear into it and see if there was something obvious that could be fixed - the solder joints appeared to be good with a cursory examination, and the ones that I looked at under the magnifying glass were absolutely beautiful! So I’m led to believe that this unit is just a piece of junk. I only tried one instance, so I can’t say if it’s a pattern, but I’m not about to drop any more funds to try again. Buyer beware! ... show more

  • Good value HDMI KVM, works so far
Using it for a week already and had no problems yet, so that's better than the last one I had (not this model) which was flipping out from the start. This one seems to have some EDID support as the display info is passed properly, but only the active connection is actually powered (so when you switch multi-display PCs the display disconnects and reconnects depending on the active PC). For my use case I had no issue with Windows 10 and Fedora 35 who both seem to restore window to their previous place correctly. It has no hotkey, but the included wired remote works just as well so that's a non-issue. Overall for the price I'm really pleased with it, hopefully it'll keep working for a long time. ... show more

  • Good Product while it lasted.
I purchased this KVM in January. All seem to work fine for a while. The "remote control" worked but stopped being able to change ports after 2 months. Not a big loss. Video was OK, although had a little difficulty when changing ports though. The most problematic area was the keyboard and mouse and it was recommended by Amazon to work with my Logitech devices. After a month it keeps loosing connections so had to switch to wired keyboard and mouse. Finally about two weeks ago, video went out for ports 3 and 4, so it is not usable for my home lab. The KVM was inexpensive, and it shows. ... show more

  • Less cables to run
I really like the fact that the USB C cables are bundled into the HDMI cables. Setup was breeze and the product works very well for me needs.
