My son liked this building set very much! He loves to play with Legos blocks, and these pieces are compatible with Legos, so I had no trouble with the other parts of the other brands when I had to assembled. The box only includes an instructions manual for 1 robot, but in the App, you can download it and be able to see more models to assemble. My son spent a good time assembling the sets. The app is pretty easy to be used, it has the option to sign up, but you can log in as a guest, without having to make an account and you can continue seeing the options that has to build. Recommended.

What I would have given for a kit like this when I grew up! Lego Technic didn't exist 'back in the day' but I sure had fun with all of the Lego I collected back then. My son and I had lots of fun with Lego as he was growing up and I made sure to grab all of his bricks and put them away for later as he (thought he) "outgrew" them. My grandsons will (eventually) be the recipients of quite a Lego haul once they're old enough! This STEM based kit, and a few others, will be held back for a few years until they start to show interest in the more sophisticated Technic kits. While their dad is a pharmacist, they come from a long and broad line of Engineers who love playing with technology. So I'm sure they'll enjoy this kit eventually too. WARNING: MOST Construction Instructions are In The APP ONLY! The paper instructions are for just one model, rather than all 14 included in the kit. Given that I'm looking 5+ years down the road before my first grandson will be even close to ready to start playing with this, my attention turns to the App and how to "give it a long life" so that the instructions will be available to my grandchildren for the next 15-20 years. I haven't played with the app yet, but I'm hoping there will be a way to "download" the instructions in a format that will live-on for decades. Paper is always good for that, and maybe even PDF files. Time will tell. This kit comes with only one paper based construction instruction set, and leaves the other 13 to the App, unfortunately. Another benefit to this kit is a second manual that talks about the mechanical engineering principles that are demonstrated and "baked into" these robots. The list price of the kit seems kind of high, but given that the price of Lego has always been "on the high side" of the toy budget, it's not surprising for this "technic" equivalent kit to be on the high end too. The long term value is there, so remember to consider the educational value as well as the fun value when considering the purchase!

Review for set G - for girls? The set comes with a molded tray that can be used to hold and sort the parts. This is a very nice touch by the manufacturer to promote disassembly and reassembly. This set advertises 8 in 1 on the title, as 8 predefined models for which instructions are provided. Note that the printed booklet inside only has one of the model's instructions. The rest of the models are available from their App, that can be obtained for iOS and Android enabled devices. The control module requires two AA batteries (not included). The battery installation is simple. The slide door to expose the battery compartment is designed with a tight tolerance. It is a little hard to install it back. Note that the instructions are printed very nicely. However, they are a little hard to follow for a 6 years old with previous experience on Lego building. Parent may need to assist small children to be able to follow these building instructions. Review for Robot E - 14 in 1 robotics This set also comes with a molded tray to help with the bricks sorting and holding them between builds. The kit includes two booklets: one with instructions to build a "humanoid drummer" machine, and another one that explains a few concepts of STEM like gears, levers, elasticity, gravity... these are written for an older audience, perhaps older than most 8 years old children. Also for this set, the phone or tablet app is required to follow the instructions of the other 13 models advertised on the title. These instructions are appropriate for an 8+ years old child.

This technic building block set that has a motor component is great for my six-year-old son, who loves everything robots! he currently goes to robot and coding class and they have something that’s very similar to these. However, these building pieces fit much better and are a lot more modernized than some of the older technic sets used at the school. It also comes with what we call the brain of the robot which can be hooked up and Powered up to create a moving creation. My son has used this to create no robots, but also structures that have moving parts. He absolutely loves that This has a brain that he can use it to build whatever is on his mind. This is a great little starter set. It comes with lots of pieces and a tree to put it in. The package is very nice and can be given as a nice gift. Highly recommend.
