  • GET GET GET!!!! great for your little cooks!
Get get get get get!!!! My son is 5 years old and loves to help me in the kitchen, this is such an amazing set for your little cook who wants to learn to cook and cut foods up with these training and safe knives that come in there, he uses the peeler that comes with the set and helps me peel potato’s! The set comes with two cutting boards which is nice they added that in there, the durability and quality of the items that come in this set are pretty good, not flimsy at all and a really great start for your little ones to safely cut foods up and help you out in the kitchen. You’re definitely getting a really good set here and your kids will have fun with this! The peeler has broke…but the knives and everything else continue to work amazing! ... show more

  • Perfect Starter Knife Set for Little Kitchen Helpers
I purchased this kids knife and cutting set as my little ones started showing interest in helping in the kitchen, and it has been a great addition. I love that each child has their own cutting board—it makes it easy to create individual “stations” and keeps everyone engaged. We mainly use the knives for fruits, vegetables, and breads, which feels appropriate and comfortable for young learners. The knives work very well for those foods without feeling unsafe. The cookie cutters have been a fun bonus and are frequently used to make shapes out of cheese and cucumbers. This set is fantastic for developing dexterity and hand strength while practicing real-life skills in a meaningful way. A huge bonus for me is that everything has been top-rack dishwasher safe so far, which makes cleanup easy. I can’t speak to long-term durability yet since these were a Christmas gift, but overall we’ve been very happy with this purchase and use it often. ... show more

  • For the beginner chef in a child
We love this! It’s NOT a child’s toy. It’s for learning and being hands on in the kitchen; that’s what we use it for. The quality is great, they cut nicely, they look cute. We learn safety and the size is a good size for my 6 year old to grow into and use for many years. (I love them too) They’re safe with instruction and supervision, as with all kitchen items. I think if these were a TOY, they would be plastic. Great way for my child to feel special and when he’s in the mood to participate, he has his special set. The joy that alone brings us worth having this set. ... show more

  • A good beginner set for young folks wanting to learn to cook.
Grandson loves these kid-safe kitchen utensils. He likes to help mother make dinner and this one excellent way to provide him the means to do so. Tools are of good quality and age-appopriate for 4 year old with adult supervision.

  • Sturdy set to build kitchen confidence
This set is really well made and will help your little ones learn kitchen confidence without the danger of seriously hurting themselves. It gives them the chance to practice important life skills without an emergency room visit. The cutting boards are sturdy enough for the plastic knives as well.

  • Seems that Some Safety Issues Had Been Corrected
So if you're not sure about whether to order one of these sets because of negative reviews, there's definitely something that needs to be mentioned. It seems that the most common complaint about these kitchen sets is that the cutters are designed in such a way that kids are likely to get their fingers stuck in them. We ordered the 17 piece set for our Daughter to use in the kitchen. And not only are the shaped cutters sized in such a way that her fingers couldn't possibly get stuck in them, but neither could my Wife's fingers. Are the cutter sizes different from set to set? Did the manufacturer notice past complaints, and went back to the drawing board on the size of the cutters? I honestly can't give you a straight answer. I can only speak to the sizes of the cutters in the 17 piece set that's presently selling for $7.99 (normally $9.99). But that's not to say that we were 100% on board with all of the pieces included. Here's what I mean by that.... The knives were fairly safe to use, with close supervision. I think the real concern all of us as parents have is that it's so easy for a child (or an adult for that matter) to nick themselves with a very sharp blade. But these are serrated blades. So just like you're not likely to slice a finger with an everyday serrated steak knife at a restaurant, you'd have to put some effort into actually hurting yourself with one of the larger knives. But the potato peeler, we had concerns about it right off the bat. It's about as sharp as your average kitchen peeler. And if you're handling wet, potentially slippery potatoes, there is always a chance of an accident happening. So for the time being, we're holding off on letting our Daughter use the peeler. And that's really the only reason why I'm giving the set four stars instead of five. Everything else in the set is great, and we had a lot of fun doing things like making cute custom sandwiches and mini sandwich bites. I thought it was awesome that this whole set was only eight bucks (at least it is if the sale price is still going on). Think about it for a second. You can easily spend eight bucks on a single combo at a fast food restaurant. A single meal, that's it. Or you can get two medium iced coffees or frappes for eight bucks. Or, you can spend that eight bucks on this set, and have something that your child can actually use many times for several years. It's just a smart buy. A small investment not only for something your kid will enjoy. But for the family time you'll spend together. It's a little bit of money, but you can make million dollar memories. I did notice a few people complaining about the wooden "knife" splintering or breaking down after the first wash. But the way around that, is to treat it like you would a hardwood cutting board or wooden cooking utensil. When I get a new cutting board or wooden spoons, etc, I apply food grade mineral oil to them using a regular kitchen sponge. I let it sit overnight, then wipe it down with a soft cloth or paper towel in the morning. One treatment is often enough, but I personally like to do that once a day for at least a week. Then on the last day, I apply unbleached natural beeswax, which I wipe off in the morning. Doing this to wooden cutting boards and kitchen utensils serves two purposes. The first is that it creates a seal that prevents moisture from getting into the wood (and potentially harmful bacteria as well). The second is that it prevents wood from cracking, splitting, splintering or breaking. Cutting boards and wooden cookware need plenty of TLC. If you do the mineral oil treatment (even without the beeswax), it will really add to the life of your kitchen tools. Then you can hand-wash the wooden knife, and not have to worry about splintering. I say go ahead and order the 17 piece set. It's colorful, fun, educational for aspiring chefs. You have a good variety of tools for kids to learn how to use. I'd say it's fairly safe - with adult supervision. Though the jury is still out in our home over the potato peeler. But aside from that, it's a fun set at a great price. Add it to your shopping cart when you're done reading this. ... show more

  • Good for little hands
Love this! Not only is it good practice for my little one’s hands and motor skills but I love to use the little cookie cutters to get my toddler to eat sandwiches! He never liked them before and now we use them daily to cut little bunnies or stars and now he’ll eat a whole sandwich. Dual usage! The scissors did break after a few uses but everything else has held well and very safe so the scissors breaking wasn’t a deal breaker for me personally ... show more

  • Perfect for all my children!
Perfect for my all my children from the ages 6-11, they all enjoy helping us in the kitchen. Especially my youngest, she loves to cute her own fruits and vegetables. It's looking like we've got a future chef in our family. Just the right size and sharpness to cut food and not their hands or fingers.
