I bought this to replace my old "yellow version" and I am very happy with the upgrade. It planes boards smoothly and evenly, and the finish looks clean right off the machine. Probably won't need to do too much sanding to get ready for finishing. I was too excited to swap it out with the yellow tool in its permanent location, so I just ran a scrap 2x4 through to try it out and it worked perfectly. After I took the picture, I hooked it up to my shop vac and that worked even better, taking care of about 95% of the wood shavings that were coming out of the planer bed. This planner is lighter than my old one, which makes it easier to move around, and the controls are pretty straightforward so I was able to get started right away after attaching the dust port and depth gauge. The machine feels solid, runs smoothly without too much vibration, and the noise level is about what you’d expect for a planer this size. I actually think it is a little quieter than my yellow one, which is a definite plus for me and my neighbors.

The media could not be loaded. If you are on a budget and looking for your first planer, this is an option. You will have to be careful because there are multiple sources for this planer and the price range is huge for the same planer. I am comparing this to another name brand planer that usually has all yellow tools. This planer is almost half the cost (at the time of my review) of the yellow brand so if you see this planer for nearly the same cost, look elsewhere. This planer runs at 10,000 RPM while the other runs at 20,000 RPM. This planer uses metric measurements with the exception of the depth guide (which uses both) and marks for inches with 10 divisions? The first thing I noticed when unpacking is the power cord is not grounded. Major wood working tools always use a ground or three prong plug so minus a star here as all of my other equipment use a grounded plug for safety. The dust collection is another issue. I like that it can be mounted either left or right and has four screws holding it in place. The miss here is they have a built in adapter to use either a dust collector or shop vac. The dust collector hose I have fits all my other tools and equipment except this one. You can see the video is that it is loose. The smallest shop vac hose did work. Because they built in the adaptor, the air flow is restricted and wood chips come out the front of the planer as you can see in the picture. Minus a second star. I ran a piece Black Walnut through that was resawed. It did a good job planning and did not leave any marks. The planer did have a lot of chips coming out of the front though. This planer is also much lighter than my yellow one as it is about 20 pounds lighter. This can be a plus for portability but it also means they used lighter material to make this planer.

I ordered this planer because I’ve been wanting something dependable for woodworking projects, and it has really impressed me. The three HSS blades leave boards with a smooth finish, and the adjustable thickness settings make it easy to dial in exactly what I need. I’ve run everything from rough pine to hardwoods through it, and it handles both without hesitation. The feed speed keeps things moving along quickly, but it doesn’t sacrifice precision, which makes a big difference when you’re working with larger batches of lumber. The build feels sturdy and professional, and the dust collection port options are a huge help for keeping the workspace manageable. This is a highly adjustable 3-blade wood planer designed for workbench use. After using it a few times I already know it'll find a permanent spot on my main bench. Sturdy construction and SHARP blades right out of the box. Comes most of the way assembled, so putting it together didn't take 15 minutes. The top adjustment knob is useful, as it's out of the way but still easily accessible. The self-feeding feature is a nice plus. Sturdy construction, fun to use once you get the hang of it (be careful about blowback, just take a bit at a time), and highly functional. HIGHLY RECOMMEND...

The media could not be loaded. This is an upgrade from my old benchtop planer. I got the opportunity to use it this week as we were working on a bathroom remodel and needed to decrease the thickness of a board to assure that it would fit where I needed it to. This thing worked like a beast. It is very well made and packed with features. It is portable and compact but has the build quality of a production machine. It worked perfectly as I reduced the thickness of a 2 x 4 for this job and left the surface of the wood very smooth. It's a great portable planer and should last me for many years.
