This is a solenoid. I've tested it since I took the picture and it works exactly as it supposed to. It feels sturdy, has a decent weight, and appears well made. Also included are instructions that make sense and some wire boots (although I'd add some tape to make sure they don't slip. There's a sticker on the package encouraging people to reach out if they have any problems- I'm used to seeing stuff like that but I actually did reach out to the company to ask what the duty cycle was and had an answer within a couple of hours. Very impressed by this level of customer service, which is better than many better known companies. The duty cycle is 4 minutes, which is more than most winches.

This reversing relay is a universal replacement for smaller "ATV sized" 12 volt winches. It fit fine on my Polaris, and would also work on my snowplow blade. The unit has a solid feel to it, not cheap or lightweight. It comes with six boots for wiring terminals. Molded into the case are insulating blocks between terminals so they cannot rotate and contact an adjacent terminal. Terminal studs are color coded. I'm ready to plow next winter!!

Luckily I know how to wire a winch solenoid, because this came with zero instructions. It works fine but a basic wiring diagram is too much to ask for I guess...

The media could not be loaded. I had some initial concerns when I saw that this solenoid only had two wires coming out of the side. The colored posts were arranged differently from the original unit. Fortunately, that didn’t matter in the end. Matching the cables to the same colors as the OEM setup worked just fine. The installation was straightforward, and the included instructions were clear enough that the whole process took a short time. So far, the unit works great and handles winch operation smoothly. The smaller wires use bullet-style connectors that feel a bit cheap, but they function properly. It would have been nice if the matching crimp connectors were included in the kit. The build feels solid. It has a weatherproof design and a protective coating that should help it withstand outdoor use. I haven’t tested it under a heavy load yet, but based on its initial performance, I expect it to hold up well during more demanding pulls. Overall, this solenoid is a practical and cost-effective replacement. It installs quickly, works as intended, and gives me peace of mind that the winch system is protected and ready to go.

Wow, I’m surprised by how heavy this contactor is. It’s a very heavy duty unit. It was super easy to install and handles my winch effortlessly. I thought for sure that after abusing my winch for over 45 minutes that this thing would be smoking hot! It was warm but that’s it. Great item!
