Installation was easy. I didn't have a vacuum pump so I got the one at harbor freight and it worked fine other than I had to get 3/8 to 5/16 adaptors on Amazon and worked fine. Unit works well, it is pulling water out of the air very well. Very quiet inside and out. For the money it beats everything else I've seen. This is for the 18,000btu unit. Unit is pre charged, just vacuum out the line and it's ready to go. Make sure it hold vacuum before you open the valves. ... show more

This unit is perfect for a medium size space. It's super quiet, and effective. As far as it being DIY, if you're handy with things like this, have a general knowledge of how this unit works, how to mess with copper tubing as to not kink it or strip the threads, and how to do electrical it is very much so DIY. If you don't have the confidence that you can install it you're probably best to have it done. The instructions do not show how to get the cover off the inside unit but a quick Google search and it's easy to do. Also they don't show how to switch from C° to F° but if you scan the QR code in the manual it will tell you how. They also don't show the step to open the valves on the outside unit to release the freon into the system after vacuuming so don't forget to do this step. Other than those couple of things it was super easy for me to install myself with no help and we are very satisfied with this product and highly recommend it. ... show more

This is a pretty decent unit, the oem is AUX i think. It is the cheapest inverter unit i found in this size class, and it definitely does perform as one. I have it connected to an inverter so I can graph it's power usage and it nicely scales to load. It also does soft start which is pretty important for inverter use and seems to cap out around the 1800w area. Unfortunately it doesnt seem to do soft stop, it makes a fairly audible clunk when shutting off under load, which probably inst good for longevity. But my usecase is to just let it run all day, so it shouldnt really shut down for me under heavy load. i got filtered by the app pretty hard, it requires Cellular service on the phone to set it up, which I dont have at location, so i gave up and pulled out the wifi module and replaced it with a esp32 running esphome. It was pretty trivial to do just using the existing aux ac component on github. Kinda frustrating not having any online documents. Since my outside unit arrived a day early, I was able to install it, but I had to sort of guess at the length of lines coming out of the inside unit as it hadn't arrived yet. And the instructions are in the inside unit. Unfortunately the 4 wire control cable was also in the inside unit box, so you cant fully finish the outside work without both boxes. The inside unit lines stick out about 1 foot from roughly the lower right corner relative to front of unit, so plan for that accordingly as the lineset is a bit shorter on these at 13ft. ... show more

So it’s been installed and it works great. Aside from the lack of Wi-Fi capabilities and not being pre-charged like it explained in the description that it was, I can say that it works the way it’s supposed to as far as cooling and dehumidifying. I’ve changed my three stars to four stars. If the Wi-Fi actually was a feature and if it came refrigerant, pre-charged in the line sets I would give it five stars. I’ll start by saying there’s a lot of false advertising. In the description, it says that these lines come pre-charged and easy to install so any homeowner can DIY but as soon as you receive the equipment, the first thing it says in all of the paperwork is “needs professional Installer“. The lines do not come pre-charged and it is not Wi-Fi capable. That being said, we will see what it does with 350 ft.² of space. We just had to leave the local hardware store to get conduit, a breaker and eight gauge wiring. I don’t know what to say about value for what I paid as of yet. After having to stick it on a vacuum and wiring everything correctly, we’ll see. Not having the ability to DIY with pre-charged line sets and not having Wi-Fi capabilities or correct sized wiring so far has been a let down. If it can’t keep up with the heat in 350 sqft of space, we will send it back. ... show more

While installing the outside unit could not establish a good vacuum on the lines. After evaluating the ¼ flare nut for the high-pressure line it was cracked and continue to spin on the value stripping the threads on the unit so that the pressure line cannot be connected.
