I purchased these and installed them on my gate as my doors are heavier so of course I chose heavy duty. The springs are fine but I think they are mislabeled as heavy duty and I would probably call them medium duty. Otherwise the product would have worked great if my doors were lighter

A+++ great gate spring with adjustable tension. But know that the spring does not stretch. Not intended to. It goes on the opposite side of the gate like it would be compressing it. Easy to mount and easy to adjust the tension. I have bought and are in use 4 of them.

Note, we did return these and get our money back, BUT I wanted to leave a review if you wanted to just give them a chance, DON'T!! My husband used these on front gate doors and they don't work. They stretched out with the first use and then didn't spring back, he removed them soon after installation. It is sad when you want to give an unknown a try and they don't work. On the other hand, I am glad to provide to the underdogs, but when they don't work, I will let you know too. Don't get these, go for something much heavier duty to do the job. Don't go cheap.

Pin that you use to load the spring is milled poorly, and falls out with vibration of the gate closing. I found the pin after a couple of days. I figured out that the issue is that the pin doesn’t fit well into the slot. So I got a replacement. Same thing happened. The small slot that the pin is supposed to go into is not drilled precisely so the pin only goes in partially. I did use the correct (the larger) side of the pin. For a third try I moved to another spring. The same kind of spring, slightly longer. Manufactured more precise. The different brand works well.
