  • You know when you hit it right
I was skeptical about this item, but the reviews and overview of the item convinced me. I have impressed by this product. You can tell when you hit it correctly and that it would have gone far. Highly recommend to someone wanting to practice in the backyard.

  • These Are Great
I love these for practice. You get that satisfying thwack that light practice balls just can't deliver. They're also super durable so while they might seem a little pricey they'll last forever.

  • Nice
They are easy to get scuffed but so far no problems(5 uses)

  • My favorite golf training aid
Update 10/22 Since this purchase in 2011 I have probably purchased four dozen of these babies - I just love them. Still over time they do crack and eventually break or not fly well due to being de-shaped in one way or another so I needed to get more. The only thing these things cannot do easily, is let you know if you hit slightly on the heel or toe. But over time and with some experience, you can even detect those mishits. Also since this review I have found they work very well off a hitting mat. I have a Monster Mat and spend most of of my time practicing off the mat mainly because I do not want to tear up my lawn. Although I do have an area of lawn I use just for the purpose of verifying I am taking a good divot off the grass. Or I use it with my Divot Board - which is a great combination. Easily my favorite practice aid of all time with the Divot Board a close second. If you are a golfer like me who loves to practice daily and prefers not to take unnecessary trips to the driving range, the Birdie Ball is a must have. I cannot recommend these enough. Original Review I did not have high expectations for this product even though they have received pretty positive reviews, but for about the same price as a dozen golf balls, there was not much risk. When they arrived, which took far longer than it should have, I immediately took them outside for a few test hits in my yard. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. These babies work 100% as advertised. They're a little bigger than a golf ball but about what I expected. When you make solid contact they feel pretty much like hitting a golf ball and they make a very cool buzzing sound when they fly. I started with my 8 iron which I can normally hit pretty well, and they flew high and straight just like a real ball, but not as far of course. I have a decent size yard and can almost hit a full wedge, so taking a full swing using the Birdie Ball with my 8 iron was no problem. I purposely came over the top on a few swings which I tend to do when I don't lead well with my hips, and the ball sliced just like a golf ball would. I was able to draw a few shots as well. One of the main reasons I bought these is to hit off grass using a full club, so I could practice hitting down on the ball and taking a good divot. They babies work perfectly for this purpose. I do have a practice mat and net, but haven't tried hitting off the mat yet. I don't now if I will since they work so well on grass and I can use a full club and get solid feedback. I've purchased a few other golf aids and have to say this is one of the best. Being able to use a full club in my own yard, off real grass and get real feedback is about as good as it gets. I know I'll save money at the range and pretty confident I can build a good solid repeatable swing using the Birdie Balls. I think these are a must for any golfer who wants to practice more frequently and not spend the time and money at the range. You might spend a few bucks on grass seed, but it's well worth it to see that perfect divot!! ... show more

  • Best home training tool I've found
I have used the wiffle ball style fake golf balls, a few brands of foam golf balls, real golf balls and a catch net, and now these BirdieBalls. There is absolutely nothing on the market that I've come across that even compares to the BirdieBall. You can hit these with absolutely everything you have and they really only go 40-50 yards (wedges and irons) and give you a ton of feedback on your shot. Unlike a foam ball, wiffle ball, or real ball into a net, you actually see the result of your shot with these. Do you slice on the course? You're gonna slice with these too. The bright side is now you can correct your slice in the comfort of your own backyard. Also, unlike other training balls, you feel the impact with these, very much like a real golf ball. I have also found that BirdieBalls have something to offer that no driving range I've ever been to has been able to...I can finally practice sidehill, uphill, and downhill lies. Driving ranges are great, but they are always flat and conditions are pretty much perfect, whether you're hitting off a mat or grass. With these, I can hit from wherever I have 40-50 yards. I've been using them behind obstacles too. I don't find myself hitting off the fairway as much as I'd like, and now I can practice hitting up and over bushes and around trees. Once again, something you just can't do on a driving range. I am hopeful that it will help my real golf game, as most of us know how discomforting it can be to shoot a quality shot when all you're worried about is not hitting that tree, tall grass, bush, road, etc. I've used these off a mat, short cut grass, and grass that hasn't been mowed in weeks and every time I'm impressed. Finally a product that I can hit with a full swing and see true results of my swing, without leaving my yard. Added bonus, they make for a great game with friends. I can see cornhole and horseshoes taking a backseat to these BirdieBalls when it comes to playing games in the yard with friends. I understand they float, too. Haven't tested that for myself yet. Only downside to these that I've found so far is they won't do a thing for your chipping or putting game. If you're on the on the fence about getting these, just do it. It's the same cost as a couple of buckets at the range and you don't even have to leave your yard to use them. Great stress reliever too. And without the drive to a range or course. ... show more

  • Perfect for the backyard
Works great if you are not able to make It to a range. Also balls are durable enough to withstand being retrieved by a German Shepard! Very happy with the durability and quality of the product.

  • Very True
The only problem with this training aid is the price. For $10 more you can buy a dozen Pro V golf balls. Perhaps a smaller quantity ( such as 6 ) would allow more players to try. Now the good part. I have two 80 yard sections of lawn at home. The 40 yard maximum fly is perfect. After hitting “ ball “ you can see exactly what you did right or did wrong with the ball flight. Open the face and you see a slice or fade. Pull your swing and a hook appears. Hit it on the button and the feel is great and path is straight. I’ve found short game the neatest to work on. Irons and Birdie Ball are 99% accurate. This ball is fantastic for swing training and the ball is light , so no swing fatigue as I normally get after ball 40 on a driving range. I’ve not tried woods yet, but the iron / birdie ball match is fantastic. Construction seems solid. Therefore the life of product should be good. Best part is these are hard to lose. So , if you consider a bucket of balls is $10, One dozen is same cost as 4 buckets. ... show more
