As a band teacher, I'll admit I have a bias up-front against low-priced reeds, and it's been proven out time and time again by the reeds my students come in with. These aren't quite the consistency of the name-brand reeds, but they're one of the closest I've found at this price point. These were pretty evenly cut, which is a typical complaint I have with most of the other lower-priced reeds--often one edge is much thicker than the other. They do taper pretty quickly, which results in a bit more "buzz" to the sound than I'd prefer for my students in the concert band setting. For marching & pep band, however, I think they'll do fine, and I'll keep them in my backpack for emergency reed replacements during parades & games (reeds always manage to get broken right before an event, and somehow that was always a student's last reed.) ... show more

Very decent reeds for the value, especially for jazz and beginners. Box comes double hermetically sealed, each reed in its own plastic sleeve was issue free. Sounds as expected, maybe a little thin in the vamp but I like that as a jazz guy so classical players looking for deeper sax tones might take note these are a bit on the skinny side. ... show more

    • Good, usable reeds, perfect for beginners and also for long practice sessions.

I am used to finding a little more than half a box of reeds to be usable, so I was a bit surprised when the first 5 reeds I pulled out were decent enough for a good practice session or two.
