    • Does NOT WORK with USB hubs
I like this camera, and for its purposes the manual focus is actually a feature and not a detriment. For streaming or Zoom calls, auto-focus often just gets in the way. I like being able to literally dial it in. The color palette on this camera is a bit washed out compared to its primary competitors, the Logitech 920 and 922. This camera came onto the market when it was impossible to get a 92x in the early days of the pandemic and they were trying to cash in on that demand. The big problem with this camera is that it simply will NOT work if plugged into a USB hub, whether it's 2.0, 3.0, powered, unpowered, what have you. I have tried many different combinations of hubs, computers, cables, power sources, etc. and nothing works. It simply will not show up as a device if plugged into a USB hub. It took me a while to figure out what the common denominator was, but once I identified it, it was obvious. I do a lot of streaming under different conditions, but almost all of them involve hubs in some capacity, as I place cameras in different parts of my studio. Just recently I was streaming at a remote site, and used a powered USB 3.0 cable (which, from a technical perspective, is a one-port powered USB hub) to do a 16 foot run from the computer to the DJ booth. Sure enough, this camera simply would not function. (This was where I finally figured out what the problem was.) Fortunately I had a 920 with me that worked just fine off the hub, but I ended up being down a camera when I had planned for multiple angles, which was really lame. The camera will work with short USB extension cables, so if you want to use it at a distance, you can use a three foot or maybe six foot cable, but that's it. Too much longer than that, and signal attenuation/voltage drop will make it unusable, and you can't extend its range using a hub because of this shortcoming. For most users, who are using it plugged into their laptop or tablet directly, they will never encounter this issue; but for people with more complicated setups, this is a major impediment. ... show more

Can only Zoom while using cameras own program but once you say use YouTube or stream yard you cannot zoom in

    • Fine For Most Users
I got this webcam during the initial lockdown for COVID-19. Most big-name webcams were completely sold out, so I took a leap of faith with this webcam. I was not disappointed. The picture was crisp enough, it connected easily with my Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Discord. Overall, I was very impressed. Recently I decided to get a standing desk since I have gained "the lockdown 20" and I was tired of sitting all day. This camera didn't like that. Any time I move my desk, the camera connects and disconnects so rapidly that it actually slows down my computer (which is impressive, since I am using a Ryzen 2700x CPU). I have to wiggle the cord until it finds it's sweet spot and stops rapidly cycling. I have tested my motherboard extensively to make sure that the motherboard was not the culprit, but alas, it was the camera. Whenever the cord is bent near the USB, it begins it's cycling again. For most users who do not find themselves moving their camera often, this will not be an issue. Another con is the beauty filter and lack of supporting software. It's low-light filter is so dramatic at times that it makes my black beard nearly invisible on my pale skin. I have used OBS software to override the beauty filter and the picture looks great, but it resets after every restart, so I just gave up. All-in-all, it got me through a jam and I would recommend it for a beginning streamers in well lit rooms or for someone to make high quality video calls from time to time, just whatever you do, DON'T MOVE THE CAMERA. ... show more

    • background replacement NOT included
I bought this because it included background replacement. The ad in Amazon has changed now so that background replacement tells you that you have to use another app - which by the way costs money. Because I was traveling, I did not get to further explore the product and missed the RETURN deadline. So I'll keep it by default. It does have good clear image quality. It is a PLUS that it self-adjusts & fluctuates with light level, however, that also has a minus because sometimes it changes with just the motion of a person's head or slight fluctuation in light level. I'll play with it some more because I do want a webcam I can use independently of my laptop built in cam. ... show more

Im big on quality no matter what the price is and sometimes all you buy is a NAME. thats being said, i put this camera through rigerous testing and altho the angle could have been wider, it was plenty enough for my use. i tested it against 7 name brand high end cams and it ran neck and neck to all of them. The very subtle improvements over the big names were not worth the extra 100 bucks i paid for them. Needless to say all but one of them are now going into the yard sale and this is my main cam. the one i kept was for a different angle for switching between cams and its not even high end name brand expensive chit. this cam also feels like quality, its heavier than most and does not feel like cheap plastic. if you looking for something as good as the rich boys toys on a budget like i am.....give this one a try, i mean, amazon does have a decent return policy !
