Very light wood, must assembly carefully. Sturdy enough to storage but not to move constantly, If you are using it to display vinyl records (like me) is ok, but not to transport them, it may break I'm afraid.

The material is that of the compact sawdust boards, I don't remember what kind of wood that is called. But the thickness of the wood was great! Made the little box super sturdy and hold up for what I was using it. The wood is super soft, I was originally thinking of painting it, but with the softness I haven't bothered to, especially since the color was almost identical to what I wanted. My use for this box was to flip it on it's side and make a wine bar box that hid the boxed wine I was using. This ended up functioning perfectly for what I needed, it's storage capacity is a little more than three boxes of Franzia wine. ... show more

These boxes seem sturdy; It took me about an hour to put 2 of them together; very attractive product. I may buy a couple more to hold my old LPs.
