    • 100% Blocks Sun....But.....

Ordered the 157" x 59" pack. 100% blocks the sun which is the primary purpose. Just started living full-time in my RV and needed a way to block as much sun/heat from coming in as possible and this does that without issue. I was expecting material - something I could use the hot iron tape to 'sew' the edges for a clean finish. This is more like a thin, plastic shower curtain liner - it is black on one side and silver on the other. Since it feels more like plastic than material, I was afraid to use an iron for the tape (just did my best to cut straight lines)....or for that matter, to get out the wrinkles. I installed it behind the window treatments around the edge of the windows and behind the blind so the only edge that shows is the bottom edge. The adhesive pads are excellent! Very sticky! For a couple of the larger windows, I placed the pads in the center between the corners. Placing another order as still have a couple more windows to cover so will have enough Velcro pads. It would be cool if they could lightly print guidelines on the silver side of the 'material' to use when cutting - like some makers of Christmas wrapping paper. ... show more

These do their job. Hands down. I live on the 5th floor of an apartment building, put them up on my windows and BAM. Not even joking, at least a 20 degree drop in my apartment. Now my AC won’t have to work so hard. They come with Velcro stickers so they don’t ruin anything. Well worth every penny. They are more like a thick Mylar with a gray silver on the back and black on the front. They aren’t flimsy but they’re not going to last more than a few seasons. Still worth it. ... show more

    • This smells like chemical death.

The curtains smells overwhelmingly bad. It is generally hard to describe, but if I had to try it is like it got dragged through a toxic chemical plant, then through diarrhea, and then a cat sprayed on it before sitting in a garbage dump in the sun. It is truly horrendous, I cannot unsmell it, and it is in my nose. While the product does seem to meet the description, I tried to let the material air out before deciding to return it....It has been out in the sun spread out for 4 plus hours and it still smells awful. I cannot imagine putting this in my bedroom as I planned. ... show more

These blackout covers are great. I was able to cover three of my windows with one pack. I did not want to use the Velcro because I am renting and was concerned it might stick to or damage the wall, so I used thumbtacks instead. They worked amazingly well. This summer, I will finally be able to sleep in. My son and granddaughter also wanted to do their window, so I ordered another pack. I am not sure why some reviews mentioned a fishy smell. Both packs I received did not have that smell at all, and believe me, I would notice because smells really bother me, especially fishy smells. ... show more
