  • 1 TON 7075 ALUMINIUM STEERING (NO DRILLING REQUIRED) COMPATIBLE WITH JEEP JK
  • JK Steering Upgrade
  • Aluminum Steering

Description

Our 1 ton 7075 aluminium steering is one of the most important upgrades you can do to your vehicle. Not only will you get larger stronger tie rod ends, but you will also gain the strength and weight savings of aluminium. The factory steering is prone to bending with hard trail use, this is where the 7075 solid 1-1/2 inch outer diameter linkages in this kit really shine. 7075 Aluminium is much lighter than steel, but 7075 aluminium is also much more elastic than steel. 7075 Aluminium can be flexed much farther than steel and still spring back to its original shape, this is very important on an application such as steering, because at some point you will hit your steering on something on the trail. The tie rod ends in this kit are the GM 1 ton tie rod ends that have been used for years in extreme offroad applications. This means you will have larger stronger tie rod ends with increased longevity. All components of this kit will bolt together, and the entire kit can easily be installed in a few hours with basic hand tools. This kit is designed to go in the same location as the factory steering (under the knuckle). NO DRILLING REQUIRED Kit Contents: 2 Aluminium 7075 steering linkages, polished (already cut to the proper length, both ends drilled and tapped) 2 Offset GM 1 Ton Tie Rod End OS2234L LEFT HAND 1 Offset GM 1 Ton Tie Rod End OS2234R RIGHT HAND 1 GM 1 Ton Tie Rod End ES2234R RIGHT HAND DRIVER SIDE 1 Steering stabilizer bracket Important installation note! Stock wheels will require 1.5" wheel spacers, or you will need a 17" wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing or less!

  • Room for Improvement
I like Barnes 4WD products in general. This 1 ton kit however has room left for improvement. First thing you should do when you purchase this kit is to make sure your bars are perfectly straight by rolling them on the ground. My tie rod came warped. Secondly if you are going with any tire size above a 35 inch would not recommend this kit because the force needed to move those tires at a lower PSI will flex the tie rod causing movement in your steering. While it does say these rods have memory and will bend back it's normal for them not to go back exactly straight. Secondly, the GM 1 ton rod ends are just not up to par for everyday driving and weekend wheeling. They need constant grease and as soon as any debris gets under the boots, the rod end will be ruined. I've replaced my rod ends multiple times especially on the drag link end. These rod ends do not have anti flop in them so be prepared to be changing rod ends regularly because once they loosen up they will want to roll your tie rod and drag link forward when you steer. This has caused a lot of issues in my jeep for daily driving as it will cause loose steering. If you need a dependable 1 ton steering kit go with the Metalcloak or Steer Smarts. If you need something stronger Rock Crawler, RPM or Apex Chasis is the way to go. ... show more
