This spring electric fence tension spring is amazing! I didn't even know that it was a "thing" until I saw it on Amazon.! My droopy electric fence is instantly pulled taut again. With the spring, with hot and cold temperatures changes, it won't cause much tension on the line at all. During the summer months, my line was droopy and did not look good at all. (I have black and white cord that is very visible to the eye.) Like I said, this thing completely fixed it! Would I recommend it to others? YES! Would I give it as a gift? Well, if someone asked or needed it. Would I buy it again? Absolutely!

This item's labeling indicates one possible use (agricultural electric-fence tensioning); I'm using it for another. In my case, it provides tension to one corner of a large and fairly heavy triangular patio shade awning. The awning's other two corners are rigidly mounted to a wall of my house. This spring keeps the awning under tension—but also allows for some play when winds pick up. Inside the spring are two long U-shaped hooks. One hook attaches to the awning's grommeted corner, while the opposite hook attaches to steel cable anchored separately. This tensioner is very heavy-duty. It's rated for loads up to 350 pounds, which may exceed your requirements. For instance, I use similar, but lighter-duty, spring tensioners to accomplish the same tasks with smaller awnings attached to a camping trailer.

So glad I thought to buy this tension spring. I needed to hang a sail over our pool to lower the temperature of the water as well as provide much needed shade for late afternoon swims. I installed this spring on one corner of the support in case of high winds. It worked perfectly! I kept my eye on it for a few weeks when winds would kick up and the spring did its job. No rips or tears to the sail. It was kinda fun watching the sail wave up and down over the water and knowing it was safe from damage. I would recommend this tension spring.

Spring and the two hooks have no sharp edges. Galvanized surface plating is bright and blemish free. Intention was to use this on a dog tie out cable for a 30 pound pet. The compression rate on this spring is somewhat higher than anticipated. The spring I can't compress it at all manually. This spring would not add any benefit of reducing impact on dog when it ran until end of cable.

We have a little farm with electric fencing to keep our goats from escaping their pasture. Goats are very curious animals. They test the fence and without proper tension it is useless. This tension spring is absolutely top quality. It is heavy duty and helps to maintain the tension in the fencing which, in our case, was in constant need of adjustments. Very happy with this product.

I run a few high tension electric fences on our ranch and to this point I've just used the wire, fixed it at both ends, and run ratcheting or daisy wheel style tensioners. This spring makes a nice addition to the system and lets you know just how much tension you are applying with the inline tensioners.

I needed a way to have the cabling for my sun shade self adjust. It sagged as it got hot and super tight when warm. I placed this between the post hanger and the sun shade and it immediately set the tension correctly. It's the not intended purpose but it works great. When the wind blows, the sail can flex without worry of snapping or stretching cables.
