This review is for the "1 Pack Wood Carpenter Bee Trap for Outside - Best Bee Trap - Wood Boring Bee Trap- Nature Chalet Style Carpenter Bee Traps Outdoor Hanging - Insect Traps Removes Carpenter bee". This is a nice, large trap for carpenter bees. The construction is nice and sturdy, although the wood materials used are thinner and just above a science project. For $27 (at time of the review) I would expected thicker material so that it lasts longer. The wood is natural and plain. No color. It is bigger than I expected. The bottle is made of plastic and does not come with a dip stick, which would be more helpful. Assembly was easy, just screw in the hook provided and loop the string to hand - or you can mount it. It is very attractive and not gaudy. I ordered two. I knocked off one star because I think the price is a bit high. So far, I haven't caught any bees even though I see them flying around it. I'll give it a few more days. It will most likely take the pheromones of the first bee captured to attract others.

This is my review of the GRTRE Wood Carpenter Bee Trap. I ordered this in the hopes of catching the carpenter bees that I see around my deck. What I liked... The wood is made of cedar and there are no stains or color to it There are multiple entry ways into the trap for the carpenter bees Easy to hang the trap What I did not like... The receptacle that holds the bees is plastic, will the sun discolor it? Conclusion... After 2+ weeks hanging outside, I have not caught any bees at all. For the time being, I will give it a meh...3 stars unless I catch some bees. I have hope for this trap so as soon as I catch any, I will definitely update my review.

The only reason i did not give this trap 5 stars is because the wood is not sealed in any way. I will need to treat it with some type of wood sealer to ensure that it will survive the elements. Otherwise, it is cute and comes with everything you need. Although I will say, the tiny hanger on the back looks a bit insufficient.

We've used similar carpenter bee traps before. Although the design is alleged to be patented or patent-pending, it's a very common design. We've used them before and they do work, and we expect this one to work. This one is pretty solid. It is well-built and heavy, not cheap or thin material. Some of the other traps we had were a very thin balsa-type wood, maybe even a thin cedar, and that sounds great but when you get a bycatch of something like wasps, the somehow can chew through that material. When that happens, you have too many holes and damage, and the trap is useless. This one is pretty stout and if a wasp is chewing through this, I'm going to be very concerned... We just put our trap out now and haven't caught anything, but we also have a first-year deck, don't really see any carpenter bees except for a few occasional ones. But we used these a lot in our old house when we had tons of carpenter bees with some success. Overall, we expect this to work and we will update in a few weeks if it does. The TRICK with these traps is to catch a few and let them sit in there, the pheromones is what helps these things work -- they get "seasoned" or smell of the bees, and that brings in more and more. We think this will last a long time and work, so although this is expensive, I think this is a case of "you get what you pay for." We would recommend this one!
