I have a high end up cut router bit that I use when making mortise and tenons in hardwood but I really don’t like using it on more abrasive wood like plywood and particle boards. I felt this this ¼” shank up cut router bit would be the perfect alternative (see photo for side-by-side comparison of the two bits). For those who may not be familiar with the up cut router bit design, it pulls chips up and out of the work and are great for mortise, grooving, slotting, or routing deep blind holes. I measured the diameter of the cutting surface at 0.247” (the exact same measurement as on my high end bit). After making a slot I measured the slot width at exactly 0.250”. Perfect. The bit also comes in a nice holder and the size is clearly marked on the shank. Very happy with the accuracy and performance of this bit! I have a couple high end, big brand, solid carbide 1/4" upcut bits and they are fantastic but they are also much more expensive than this offering from Jiiolioa. This bit delivers cuts that are as smooth and accurate as any of the more expensive ones in my shop. I am very surprised at the quality of this bit, especially considering the price. This is a commonly used router bit, so you might well have several on hand. This one is made from solid carbide, which makes it extra sharp and in theory, longer lasting. The results of my brief tests, cutting into pine and oak went as expected. Price-wise, this is in the middle of the market, so I would say it is a good value, considering the quality. One nice touch would have been to label the plastic storage case, but that was easily rectified with a tape printer. Style: plunge end mill
This up cut end mill router (CNC) bit is extremely sharp. It’s made from quality materials including solid carbide with a nano blue coating. That means the sharp edge is much harder than most cutting edges, will stay sharp longer, and also run cooler. This is not a steel bit with a carbide cutting tip, be forewarned, the spiral section is solid carbide, which means it is much more brittle than steel. But it will stay sharp longer, and for CNC work on wood, melamine, and other similar materials, this is the type of bit you want. Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review.
