This is the tent a person should get if they 1) are just starting out backpacking/camping, 2) aren't climbing up high hills/mountains, and 3) will be sleeping alone in the tent with their backpack. The quality of the material is decent for the price. Assuming it isn't hit by high winds & hail, it should last for a number of trips. Note about rain, one should apply a "seam sealer" to any stitching to prevent water leaking into the tent. Also, like most tents on cool nights the moisture from your breath, which can be quite a bit, will likely condense on the interior walls and drip down onto you and your gear. This isn't a flaw in the tent as much as a lack of ventilation to allow the moisture out of the tent. The more open the windows are, the drier you'll be. At a little under 6 pounds, it is somewhat heavy to carry long distances or up/down hills. However, lighter tents cost much more. If you are tall, you will have to sleep diagonally to avoid touch either end. If you are REALLY tall, the steep curve of the walls will likely mean your feet and head will end up smashed against the walls regardless of your position. Setting it up the first time should be done at home on a sunny day rather than trying to figure it out in a dark, cold, rainy night on the trail. It's fairly straightforward to pitch, but like anything, there's few tricks you'll have to experience firsthand to get the hang of it. A big plus is that its poles are aluminum rather than fiberglass or carbon fiber. Aluminum weighs more than carbon fiber but is tougher. It's lighter than fiberglass and also tougher than fiberglass. I'm pleased the manufacture went with aluminum poles. Have fun in the wild!

The IDOOGEN two person tent is way better then I expected! The poles are all one piece, which is amazing! Every tent I've ever owned has had individual poles, usually of different lengths and a separate pole for the fly. This tent, however, only has one pole that are all inter-connected. It takes about 30 seconds to get the poles all snapped into place and, because they are all one piece, you don't have to fight with putting up one side of the tent then working your way to another side, etc. The poles have no tent sleeves to go through, which is another huge plus. They are metal poles that are MUCH lighter than fiberglass and are stronger too. My 8 year old son insisted on setting it up himself so I just watched. He did not use any instructions and was able to figure it out immediately. There is a pad for the tent to sit on. I'm thankful the pad comes with the tent because it's always a pain to try to find one that the proper size. It took my son about 2 minutes to set up the main tent. The poles go into eyelets on the four corners then the tent clips onto the poles. The fly is very easy to figure out and to throw over the tent. It has four buckles with adjustable straps. It took him another 2 minutes to put the fly on and strap it down. We put the stakes in that came with the tent so it wouldn't blow away. Both my sons slept in it already and had plenty of room. I'm over 6' tall and was not cramped at all inside. We have not tested it in the rain yet but I can tell from the design that it is designed to keep water away from the bottom of the tent. The fly should be staked out at the ends to keep water from dripping down the side of the tent at the bottom. The carry case is really nice and the teardown process is super easy and fast. This really is a great tent. It's certainly the easiest tent I've ever set up, and I've owned many tents in my life. This is, by far, my favorite tent I've ever had.

The overall quality of the tent is quite good, considering its price point. I have a year of experience setting up tents, and I would say that this one is relatively easy to set up, even for beginners. I tested it out in my backyard by spraying it with a hose and found that it is water-resistant but not completely waterproof. It's a bit too heavy for backpacking, but it would be suitable for late fall or summer camping.

This tent is well built. The seams are sealed, it's very easy and fast to set up. In the package is the tent, 10 stakes, two fiberglass poles, guy lines.. Popand the rain fly. The rain fly almost touches the ground, so should be good for 3 seasons. There isn't a lot of mesh, but the main body fabric is a "no seeum" type of fabric, so it should still vent well, but might get hot in direct sunlight. The rub is a tarp like material, so you don't have to have a base tarp if you don't want to carry it. The pack bag is highly reenforced at the bottom (presumably to keep the bottom of the bag from tearing out), this is a nice thought. The bad, and the reasons for 4 stars and not 5.....there's no vestibules, at all. There's only one door and it's at the end, not the long side. Other notes; two people fit, but w/o any gear.... And with no vestibules, that leaves you no where to store your gear. I'd consider this a 1 man tent for this reason. The length is exactly the length of my sleeping pad. With the rain fly being a separate piece, this shouldn't cause leaks, but you're head will likely be touching the tent. There is plenty of height to sit up inside w/o touching the top. That's nice and changing or getting dressed shouldn't be an issue in this tent.
