... and forget the research... get this blanket. The 'ZZLAMB Grey Goose Down Comforter' is an unbelievable value that I am extremely glad that I purchased; although, I almost did not primarily based on other reviews, where the complaints were about the 'noise factor' of the material. Fortunately, I presumed correctly, as two thoughts came to mind when reading those negative reviews: 1) these reviewers must have never owned a down comforter before, and 2) they must not have been using duvet covers. Obviously, whether my presumptions were actually accurate is counter-factual; however, I can tell you that having a duvet cover will definitely make a difference. The comforter's material label reads: 'Cotton' and 'Polyester' as separate entities; as opposed to being a 'Cotton-Poly' blend. This all makes sense: the low price means a low cotton thread count (outer shell), which requires a "tarp-like" inner shell, made of polyester, so that the down feathers do not poke through and subsequently escape the fabric. Those who have owned budget-friendly down comforters with an all-cotton shell know what I am talking about. The "tarp-like" material sound may surely annoy some people -- as for me, it sort of reminds me of "thick, crisp sheets." Nevertheless, as a former hotel manager many moons ago, I can tell the common bed-maker a "Golden Rule" when it comes to linens and mattresses: Invest in protection. This means pillow and mattress protectors (avoiding the cheapest ones). Ever since having that job, I never get a new pillow or mattress without having a new protector ahead of time. This advice definitely goes for comforters as well, especially those made with down feathers. I had the 'ZZLAMB Grey Goose Down Comforter' for about a week before its cover (exchanged colors) and the "noise" was never a distracting factor. The subtle warmth, however, was a luxury just last night (hence this review to give it the props it deserves) when we were hit with a chill overnight here in Florida (in December). Speaking of living in a more tropical (swampy) region, I expect that my 'ZZLAMB Down Comforter' to have just the right amount of light weight that most of us need, regardless of the climate, to provide a comfortable, restful sleep all year-round. I will be sure to update this review later next summer. As for now, yes, you'll have to get over the 'Made in China' thing if you really want a down comforter for perhaps the lowest price around. The "noise" factor will become nullified once you get a duvet cover for it -- I have a very (ultra) lightweight cover on mine and the difference (improvement) is hugely substantial. All that being said: the 'ZZLAMB Grey Goose Down Comforter' is perhaps one of my all-time best-value purchases, so yeah, I recommend getting one. Note: This might be a helpful tip... Upon opening, I let the blanket air out overnight, then in the morning, put it in the dryer on 'Low' with 3 tennis balls (each wrapped in a dryer sheet) and one cycle later, my down comforter was soft, fully fluffed and smelling fresh :)

This is a well made comforter. The down is evenly distributed and odor free. The fabric is a good count and down proof - here in lays the rub. IMHO the fabric must include some kind of coating on the inside to keep the down from leaking, This mysterious coating has no odor nor adds any perceptible weight BUT adds a stiffness and therefore a very noticeable CRUNCH when the cover is moved. In other words, a noisy cover. this may be a non-issue to many, but to me it represents an unnatural aspect to an otherwise totally natural organic item. I have owned comforters that are soft and totally quite - this is not that comforter. For some reason the Chinese always seem to produce products that are "off". Remember vinyl added to dog food and cellulose melamine added to baby formula? This "defect" is no where (?) as critical - but it does give me a bit of uneasiness. But you be the judge for this good value. Thanks or reading my rant of "Chinese-bashing".

I was concerned about how hot I would get with this comforter bc down comforters are very warm, but this one is perfect. It’s lightweight and soft. It’s also well made. The stitched squares are a must have when getting a down comforter bc it keeps the down in place and evenly distributed. The price is also very reasonable.

The blanket I got had discoloration along with random splotches of white, so I threw it in the washer to see if these would be remedied. While the weird discoloration was gone, it still had this absolutely foul odor all over the comforter which smells like fish and sweat. It's seriously horrible.
