I like the substrate it holds humidity pretty well in my tropcial gecko enclosures. Also, I didn't really have an issue with splinters, just a bit of substrate stuck to my hands after holding it. Safe, not smelly. I mixed this with eco earth because I didn’t have nearly enough, although I’m glad I did because this is very similar to potting soil in a dirty loose way. Works great for adding like plants into the tank though!

I brought this for my Leo and so far I've gotten no issues. My Leo absolutely loves it, and usually digs in it. It's very easy to clean and it doesn't make those dark spots. The bag is easy to store without having to worry about it when ever you need it. For the price, it's actually a pretty good value. The texture of it is soft, all you have to do is make sure that you water it a bit, to keep the terrinum humid and make sure the soil doesn't dry out. ... show more

not much to say about the soil itself other than it seems perfectly normal quality soil, but i have a 26 gallon horizontal terrarium and bought a single bag of this, unsure if it'd be enough. i still had a decent bit left over to replace soil during regular cleaning/maintenance after covering the entire bottom with varying levels of soil 1-3 inches. i would purchase a second bag if your tank is above 30gal or you have a species that needs a good amount of inches to burrow, but i was pleasantly surprised with how much i got. ... show more
