Little Genius Mental Arithmetic Comes with directions, though the text is small and there are spelling/ grammatical errors, but was easy enough to figure out by just fiddling with the buttons as the device gives spoken word audio cues such as stating the name of the game and the rules of the game. There are 4 game buttons - Game button (far left) Memory game (gives 3 digits to remember and type back in), smallest/ largest number (pick from 3 digits), number sequencing (what comes next, ie: 4-8-12-?). Then it has “Strategies” where it reads out math facts for the four basic processes. - Single digit addition/subtraction. Game 1 comparing: 1+2 ? 5 (answer would be <). Game two is just answering problems - Double digit addition/ subtraction has the same two games listed above. - Multiplication and Division: same two games as before. Working within numbers 0-100. You can adjust the volume by holding the volume +/- button for about 2 seconds You can adjust the timer for games by pressing the power/ timer button and cycle between 5 second response time, 10 second or untimed. For all games, if you get an answer wrong a buzzer sounds and the screen flashes the correct answer. When you get the answer right it chimes and gives a verbal compliment like “bingo!” There really isn’t winning or losing. When I played around with the memory game it just had a few problems and then the difficulty level increased. Unfortunately, it does not function as a calculator as I had hoped it would. Nonetheless. my 9 year old math loving kid enjoys it! For $10 (aka cost of 2 happy meals, at present time) my kid says 5 stars. Because it cannot function as a calculator I have rated 4 stars. It’s good for what it is but it is not a calculator as advertised.

A very engaging tool to learning math, a fun change from the flash card. The kid really enjoys it and is helping him excel in math. It works flawlessly. The voice is crisp and clear, very easy to understand. The keys works seamlessly. No more need for a pen and paper, the LCD screen is interactive and convenient. All of this at such a low price, this is one of the best orders I made.

We are experimenting with different techniques for math education. We have flash cards, we have used apps, we have boards games, and when we saw this we decided to give it a try. It is not perfect, yet it was really engaging and good for the kids. It does basic arithmetic, numbers in single to low double digit range, and basic operations, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Pros: + Engaging with the kids, it really brought up their attention + Digital whiteboard: this was more useful than I expected + Really educational, at least has a potential Cons: - None so far

This math tablet game works great. I like the variety of games it has to help kids practice math. Some of the games my 7 year old can do already, others he will be able to do in the years to come. It is easy to use straight out of the box. It comes with a stylus, tiny instruction guide, a very short charging usb cable, and the tablet. The voice is clear and easy to understand. It has encouraging messages when you type the correct answer and a little noise when you type the wrong answer. This is a fun way to practice and improve math skills. It turns it into a game instead of simple flash cards. I also appreciate the built-in tablet which makes it easy to solve the harder problems. No need for a pencil and paper. It is lightweight and easy to hold and take on the go. I do wish there was a way to set it to a certain level (like two digit addition that doesn’t involve carrying and regrouping). Overall, I think this is a nice little tablet and I recommend it if you are looking for a fun and effective way to practice math skills.
