Love that this is just venison jerkey. I have an ibs chicken allergy cat and finding novel protein that has no chicken or anything else is hard. They had a hard time figuring out how to eat it, but now they seek it out. I have to soak it a bit for my ole man. Good quality fresh, I use it with 3 other venison or rabbit foods that have no chicken. Expensive, yes... but my cats really like the chicken flavor of Ziwi. They are both 13 years old and they deserve the best food I can give them. I notice their bowl movements are a lot smaller and less smelly. Try also seem to be more playful and happy. I mix it in with their wet food as a topper and it makes their coats soft and shiny. I also leave a small bit down for them at night and they will eat it dry as well. You can add liquid to it to soften it. When you open the bag of raw mackerel, you know you've made a good choice. The scent isn't exactly great for humans but it stinks just like something picky cats will beg for. And it is. The price is where there's an issue. I don't mean to say it's not a good value, but it's not as high in calories and protein as I'd hoped (but didn't check first). My cats are obsessed enough that I was doing the math on how much of their diet I could change to this product, budget-wise. Unfortunately, my pickier cat, although she flips out at the first whiff of this food, gets a (mild) upset tummy from too much. I use it as treats for them now, and she's good with a tiny amount.     • GREAT for ferrets!

Our two ferrets have been eating Wysong Epigen since we got them, but I was never really happy with it as the ingredients didn’t seem like they were actually that great for ferrets (a lot better than Marshall’s, of course, but that’s not saying much at all) and our girls just don’t seem to like it. They eat it, but they clearly don’t love it and they end up throwing a lot of it out of their bowl. I want to feed them a much healthier diet, but I’m still learning and don’t understand enough yet to start making a raw diet for them by myself so we got this as an intermediate step. Started mixing it in with the Wysong, and they were actually eating more of their food instead of throwing it overboard. Now, they’re mostly just eating this (along with hearts and such a few times a week) and they’ve never thrown a single piece of it out. They get SO excited when I go to fill up their bowl with it, and they’re eating SO much more than they did before. I wish the price was a lil lower, but you get what you pay for and in my case, I’m getting a lot: peace of mind knowing that their nutrition needs are better taken care of than what I could provide at the moment, the convenience of not having to make it myself, and two happy ferrets. It’s worth it. It’s funny to see our cats and our dogs come running when the bag opens, too — we use this strictly as ferret food, but the other animals seem pretty interested in it as well so I may get some to use as treats or just for sprinkling on top of their food. Note: the mackerel and lamb smells EXACTLY like fish food to me, and it’s pretty strong. I don’t love it, but it’s not for me and i only have to smell it when I’m opening the bag so who cares? 🤷🏼♀️ The fact that it has a strong scent is actually a bit reassuring — it just wouldn’t sit right if a raw/“natural” product was odorless. ... show more
