Description
The colored iced lighters were introduced in 2006, and are currently available in five different colors; Candy Apple Red, Toffee, Cerulean, Meadow, and Gray. A colorful translucent coating is applied to these lighters which produces a sheer, glossy finish. A distressed texture peeks through under the smooth surface. Each lighter has a bottom stamp signifying the year it was made, is refillable, and is backed by Zippo's famous lifetime guarantee. All windproof lighters are American made in our Bradford, PA factory and come packaged in a gift box.

My advice to everyone, whether you smoke or not, get a good quality lighter, and you can't beat Zippo. They're well known for their outstanding quality and durability. I don't need to expand on that, as it's pretty common knowledge. Probably the most well known brand, and easily the best value. What I can say about this one, with the Candy Apple Red finish, looks amazing. I've owned a few Zippos, with some fun artwork on them, but I always love the minimalist style of either a chrome or brushed steel, or a single color. This is the later. Very classy, very stylish. The red pops. It's bold, and exciting. I dig it.

This Zippo is honestly my favorite that they sell. I bought this as a gift, and truth be told I was having a tough time giving this to him. I was thinking about keeping it and buying him a different one. The lighter is completely smooth. With all the quality that you expect with Zippo. It is a deep red that looks like it has scratches underneath a beautiful red candy coat. Mine came in the original Zippo box and had a orange sticker on it that held it shut and had a warning on it. Be warned, the stuff that they use to keep that sticker on there will probably still be there when you peel it off. It would have been smarter for me (if I knew) at that time to set a damp rag, sponge, or anything damp on the sticker to help it come off with out leaving the sticky residue on it. Taking it off wasn't a huge deal, but the ways I was trying were to ensure I wouldn't scratch it, so it took a little bit of time. I didn't want to use chemicals, because I didn't know what the effect of them could be on the lighter. That aside I got it off and the lighter was clean in all of it's glory. I wasn't sure at the time of the purchase but was fairly certain that it wouldn't come with it pre-filled with lighter fluid, or a little container with it in there. When I opened it, there wasn't any lighter fluid (not an issue), so I just went to the gas station and bought some for $2 or so (Zippo brand of course). Gave the lighter to the recipient, with a little tear I might add, and he was thoroughly thrilled about it. I'll add some pictures of it as well.

I am very satisfied with with this lighter. Some people note that the color was somewhat different than the picture that is posted for it - given the different color settings on a person monitor, and the different settings on whatever camera the image was recorded with it's virtually impossible to accurately identify whether the picture you see will accurately portray the exact shade of the lighter. For example, in my opinion, when my lighter came it is nearly exactly the same shade that is shown on my monitor in the picture. Suffice to say, though, that this lighter is very handsome - For my personal description, the color is a deep red with what almost looks like a brushed metal look (however the finish is not actually brushed metal - it's a powder coat and is smooth to the touch). Personally, I have kept this lighter in my pocket (the same one I keep my keys in) for the past several weeks. I think that there are likely a few new scratches in the coat, however I cannot make out what would be "new" and what is the original design - also, the finish is still smooth to the touch. Either my hypothesis that there must be at least a few new scratches is correct and just cannot identify them, or the finish is more durable than anticipated (I've dropped it a handful of times - It's had a sufficient breaking in period I'd think). In my pocket, however, the smooth finish has developed some "smeared" blemishes (not permanent), probably from oils or grime on my hands. These are just like the spots that develop on the screen of your phone and the like. While they do not particularly bother me (I am just casually carrying this in my pocket - I expect it to be aesthetically annihilated in a short time), they should wash off easily enough for those who are bothered. The only reason I did not give this a 5 star is rather trivial and does not greatly inconvenience me - when I received the lighter, opening the mechanism caused the insert to slide up ever so slightly. After being opened 3-4 times the insert would need to be reseated at the bottom of the case to close. In an attempt to remedy this, I followed the instructions I had seen given by many sources online to remedy this issue by trying to "pinch" the middle section of the case a bit to tighten the it. As it would seem, though, the metal that this case is composed of is remarkably elastic, and despite all of my efforts I was unable to plastically deform the actual case at all, and the insert remained loose - in my efforts, though, the significant elastic deformation the case was subjected to did, however, loosen the hinge between the top and bottom of the case. I seemed to be unable to tighten the lid any using conventional methods, so the top cover does pivot a very small amount ( <1mm of play at the front edge of the case). The loose lid was my own doing, however, the loose nature of the insert's friction seal remained. I did ultimately solve this by always taking a small (~1/2 inch wide) strip of paper and wrapping it underneath the insert so that when I pushed in the insert the paper coming up on each side sufficiently tightened the seating of the insert so it did not slide.

Like many people have said. It's a Zippo, the internal parts are all the same, just pick a case you like. Well, I LOVE this case. It's smooth like you would expect, but it does feel slightly different than my other Zippo which is just the classic polished one. I really like the brushed and intentionally scratched pattern. This one won't show fingerprints, and wont show any hairline scratches (unlike my polished one). I think this finish will look exactly the same years from now. Another review mentioned the lid being flimsy. It's been my experience that with tons of use (or idly flipping it open while you write a review) the lids will get a tiny bit more play in them, especially if you do tricks. I'm using this as my everyday carry. So i expect the lid to loosen up with prolonged use. Side note. You know how when you buy a car and all of a sudden you see tons of that car on the road. Well once you're carrying a lighter you'll be amazed at how many beautiful women need a light...like all the time. Don't be the loser that pats his pockets for no reason and says "sorry I don't smoke" be like Donald freaking Draper and give her a light with something way classier than a 99 cent gas station Bic. Then say something that's charming, but way too bold for the situation. She'll feign being offended, but then smile coyly and respond with ambiguous innuendo. Before she even asks you to call her. Hand her your business card. The one on the thick card stock that you only printed 50 of to hand to important people. She'll be impressed. She'll call.* *Results not typical. Such a cool lighter. After many years of carrying, destroying and re-buying 10 dollar keychain lighters, I finally got a growed-up lighter. The Meadow Green Ice green case is gorgeous in person. The photo does not do it justice. It functions perfectly because it’s a Zippo. I even bought the Zippo yellow butane insert (also awesome) and the Zippo tactical pouch (again, awesome). I thought I wouldn’t be able to give this a more glowing review that that, but wait for it…the lighter case actually GLOWS under blacklight. Not a little bit of glow - it’s truly radioactive, “glowing from within” spectacular. I’ll include a pic and I know you’ll think it’s not real. I don’t know how to do more than just take the pic, so I assure you it is real and unaltered. And for what it’s worth, this still doesn’t capture it. When I first saw it under blacklight I said “They should’ve led with this.” I’m not sure if Zippo even realizes. So…6 stars it is.
