There is no assembly, just pull the legs out on either end and slip the middle grippers downward. The mattress fits well on the frame, which feels pretty sturdy and certainly worth the price. I was worried that a 14" frame would be too low, but it's not low at all considering the heigh of my pillow top mattress. The middle legs are connected with a cross bar so there is little worry that those legs would bow, which I've seen comments about with some other frames. So far there isn't any creaking, but this bed frame will be used every day so time will tell if that changes. I am pretty happy with this purchase. ... show more

Several years back I had purchased a similar style folding frame to this, and that frame squeaked and banged and made horrible noises. Just turning from your back to your side caused horrendous noises to proceed from that frame. It made no sense. But not with this one! This one is silent, has smooth rounded corners and there’s no assembly at all. It pops right open and remains very sturdy even after going through a move. I would totally buy this one again! It’s a good height and has quiet rubber feet on it. All metal otherwise! I read many reviews, afraid I may experience that same noisiness, however I was pleasantly surprised. This is actually much sturdier than I expected. Super easy to put together too, with just a few screws to latch the two pieces together and secure the legs, which is why I opted for this particular one. So far, I've had ZERO SQUEAKS , which I had a big concern about, but I also have it on carpet. I love that it came with the sticky strips for putting down the middle so that the mattress doesn't slip. Awesome bonus over the other brands I was looking at. Would buy again. ... show more

This is the first time I got this 14" full sized bed platform for my new full sized mattress because I wanted one without needing to purchase a box spring. I can say that after a couple days I am very pleased and satisfied with what I got. This bed platform was very easy to set up. I did it all by myself with no help. No wasting time trying to put the legs and slats together because this comes in practically two pieces. All I had to do was to follow the instructions and put the screws in for the legs and join the two metal platforms together. It is very stable on my carpet floor and is very sturdy now that I have my mattress and comforter on top. I'm only 5'0" and about 120 lbs so I don't see this platform possibly bending or collapsing from my regular use. Even if I use the bed with a heavier person on there I think it is still very stable. I have not heard any squeaking as I was rolling around and moving on my bed. I also like that they included some nonslip adhesive strips as it helped keep my bed skirt in place while I placed my new mattress on top. I didn't get a headboard so I'm not sure how easy it is to install any headboard outside of the brand. I am currently renting a room in a house and storage space has been pretty limited to me. I was able to fit a lot of things underneath the smartbase, including my shoes, styrofoam cooler, some clothes, bags, and clean containers and food jars. Pretty much any storage container under 13" in height can fit underneath the base. The diagonal bars that hold the legs in place and legs in the middle of the base are in the way, so if you have any wide and tall storage containers then you have to be a little careful. If you need to fit standard storage containers, I would recommend getting the taller smartbase such as the 16" or 18". For someone of my height with a 14" base plus 8” mattress and a 2" mattress topper, I did not have trouble getting on and off of my bed. My feet dangle about 2-3" off the ground now. I could imagine that any smartbase greater than 14" would give my bed a lot of height. Overall I am very happy that I got this base. You can probably tell that the black cat in one of my pictures is very pleased, too. I would argue that even if you don't need much bed storage space, this is a great bedroom essential to have because it is easy for one person to put together, dismantle, and move and you can easily add height to your bed without sacrificing its stability and sturdiness. And with a good bed skirt and comforter, you'll forget that you even have a metal bed platform! ... show more

I love this easy set up sturdy frame. I hate the boxspring rail style that always seems to not stay together. Probably user error on my part. It does not require a bed frame, which is completely true but there is a small design flaw. There is wire supports between the more heavy duty supports. My matress alone with no box spring puts pressure on those wire supports, and they break. I am definately happy with my purchase but if you buy this frame consider a matress support between the frame and the mattress. I do not know if it matters on the style of mattress used. Ive got a spring style matress not a memory foam one for instance. I do encourage buying this frame. Just be aware it needs a mattress support along with it. I have had 3 of them break so far. I can see 2 more bent. ... show more
