This is a double foam layer topper. The bottom layer is a firm, dense, smooth foam. The top is about 1" of the squishy memory style foam that is more porous and sponge like than other memory foam style toppers I've owned. It doesn't tunnel like some and it doesn't make it feel like I'm sinking into the mattress. I'm guessing the rougher texture is to help keep it cooler. There was no chemical smell and the wait for it to fluff up fully was about 8 hours. My queen size was packaged by folding it in half. By the time it was well inflated, there were no signs of the crease. I'm not using it over an existing mattress. Instead, I use it in my RV where the bed is composed of a set of 6" springs that this topper then covers. I makes a nice hybrid style mattress. I've replaced the topper 3 times in 6 years and paid much more for previous toppers and yet this one is just as good as the pricier ones I've owned. If you need a little firmness in your bed, this might be a good option. I have the 4" queen size version and it is very comfortable. I did not purchase a cover because I use a mattress pad already so it isn't needed. I don't have issues with it slipping but it might be because the cover on my springs is not that slippery satin like material. Overall, this is a bargain. It is significantly cheaper than the others I've owned. I replace it every two years because in my RV, moisture and dust are frequent issues. If I were using it in my home, I think they might last longer. But, a hygienic bed is very important, so I repurpose the used topper for pet beds etc. For the next 2 years I have a comfy supportive bed. I'd buy it again without any reservations.

I bought this foam topper to add a little life to my old mattress. The 1-1/2" thickness is just right, not too little, not too thick. And therefore the price was more reasonable too. It is comfortable to lay on and I'm sleeping a little better at night. Only complaint is that the foam is bunching up in the center on one side of the bed. It began with the crease where it was folded during packaging, so I thought it would go away. After a couple of weeks I flipped it over completely, but it did the same thing on the other side. you can't really straighten it out without tearing the foam. So, I'll have to undo the bed and try flipping it again.

We bought the 4”topper to go on an existing regular spring king size bed after upgrading from a 12” memory foam queen size bed. This 4” topper turned the king mattress into a memory foam bed too. Was almost fully “inflated” straight out of the box which surprised me because it was not only compressed, but folded in half. So it had excellent recovery right out of the box. Noticed the slight smell others do right out of the packaging, but by bedtime (about 8 hours later) it wasn’t noticeable. I’m sensitive to smells and often get headaches, but this didn’t bother me at all. Highly recommended so far. I’ll update my review if it breaks down too quickly.

I have a 10 inch kind of firm memory foam mattress on a metal frame. I added this topper and a bamboo pillow top and I've loved the bed ive created ever since. I need the support of a firm mattress with the give of a cushy top and it's going well. Even took the foam out to camp on in my tent.

My mattress was too firm for my liking so I brought this and it’s been great. I rolled it out on the floor and walked over it bear foot and it rose extremely quick & evenly. It took about 2-3 hours max & it’s perfect but you can follow the instructions & wait the time required. If you’re more comfortable with that. It’s so soft and comfortable to lay on. It’s like you just melt into it. 100 percent worth it
