  • Fantastic gimbal at crazy good price.
Love this gimbal. Ok, for half of what a DJI Osimo goes for you get a very nice quality gimbal. It works with my iPhone 7+ perfectly and I also ordered the mount for my GoPro. Setup is basically adjusting the rough balance of your phone then turning it on. Simple. I use it with Filmic Pro and get cinematic moves at 4K 24fps. Really a must have if you do any kind of iPhone shooting. Really smooths things out. 10/10 would buy again! ... show more

  • Great & Affordable Handheld Gimbal.
If you are looking for a inexpensive alternative from the Dji Osmo Mobile, the Smooth-Q is the one. While the Dji Osmo Mobile has a better build quality, more refined and feature filled app, it's not worth the $160 more. The Smooth-Q performs very well providing smooth video. The battery life kills my Dji Osmo Mobile. I have gone through 2 full charges on the Smooth-Q and average 10.5 hours of use. My Dji Osmo Mobile, I get about 3 1/2 hours. The Zhiyun app is very basic compared to the Dji Go app for the Osmo. To be honest, I use my smart phones camera and video app more than the Gimbal app because it works better and I have greater control over my settings. For $139 it can't be beat. Performs great, easy to use and battery life is outstanding. The only negative for me is the app, but as a handheld gimbal it's fantastic. ... show more

  • Awesome once running
It takes some figuring out but once you've got it running it's great. Make sure you read the manual before you break it open and play... a few little things you'll learn will save you frustration down the road. The unit is NOT intuitive by any stretch of the imagination. The App leaves you wanting more for sure. ... show more

Attempted to pan side to side didn't work. Only up/down pan works. I also uodate md the firmware. Oh well that's why it's cheaper than the DJI.

  • Will not fit an LG G4...
I wished that Zhiyun designed this gimbal to accommodate variety of phone shapes. Our LG G4 and ZTE Axon A1 phones will not fit mounting tabs. The they are curved from the back forward and are the opposite of what the opening is on the Smooth Q. Although I did manage to put the LG G4 phone backwards, it was awkward without the use of the screen. Additionally, even if we had a phone that would fit, there is another tab that would hold the phone on one of the sides (actually the bottom or top of the phone), but it doesn't line-up with the two adjustable tabs. All in all, I'm disappointed with gimbal and will return it. ... show more

  • OSMO Mobile Killer
I purchased this to "experiment" with the use of a gimbal and I am very impressed. The price point is excellent (compared to the $300 Osmo Mobile) . This can turn your iPhone/Android/Action Camera into a nice cinematic option for moviemaking hobbyists. As a wedding videographer, I was going to initially buy the full sized Zhiyun gimbal for one of my DSLR's, but I found that using this gimbal with the IknowTech Mount plate : iKNOWTECH Mount Plate Adapter For GoPro Hero 4 3+ DJI Osmo Zhiyun Mobile Gimbal Handheld, Switch Mount Plate for DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbal Zhiyun . and the Yi 4k action camera - YI 4K Sports and Action Video Camera (US Edition) White Pearl - gave me an inexpensive, stabilized 4k option all in one package - no need to swap cameras or re-balance...just one tight package ... show more

  • Long way from perfect. Software feels beta
The media could not be loaded. It's a solid 3.5 because it's less than 50% the price of the DJI option and worked right out of the box. The iPhone 6 (no issues with fit) vids I took look great and the creamy smooth transitions gives a dork like me pro-grade results. What's NOT great: I can't zoom or even start/stop the video using the gimbal hardware; I have to use the camera itself. That's not been a real issue to date but clearly, it's not how it's supposed to work. The vendor site is in Chinese and while there is an English version, it's awkward (like the included instructions). I attempted a firmware update but the instructions were sketchy at best and I didn't want to brick my gimbal for an update that had no change log to justify the relative risk. I'd rather have it at a solid 75% than have an expensive phone/camera holder. It kinda feels like it was rushed to market and we're all beta testers. Lastly, the vendor goes on and on about the battery and how you shouldn't carry it on board a plane (not making that up) and how you should store it with the battery at 45%-60% BUT there's no obvious way to drain the battery and simply leaving it turned on without the phone attached causes the gimbal to seize and convulse as it tries to balance and calibrate itself. Imagine a chicken with its head cut off. Video example is short but makes the point as this was the first thing I ever shot using the gimbal (and yes, that's a non-regulation size table) ... show more

  • Good usable product, software not quite there yet
I really enjoy this gimbal for stabilizing my camera motion. However, I am not overly happy with the software for the android phone yet. It is missing 4k recording, as well as a 50/50 chance if the motion timelapse will recognize the touch and select a position (if it doesnt work, close and restart the app until it does). It also will randomly decide which direction it wants to turn in when it does work. HINT: it isn't the way you turn it, nor the shortest route, nor the longest. My best guess is it is based on the angle degree you start at and end at, then some math calc spits out a positive or negative value and it goes which ever way that describes. I hope things get fixed soon. Zhiyun if your listening please give us a way to select the direction of travel in the app or use the input from the joystick to get a hint on what direction we would like. Also when there are multiple points selected there needs to be a way to select the pacing from point to point so we can get the same movement speed even if the points are not the same distance from each other. OMHO the movement/pacing should be constant so the total distance traveled should be used in your calculation, not just the distance from point to point. I generally just use one of my other movie recording apps to do my recordings. I am using it with the S8+ ... show more
