This is the type of thing you buy in the hopes that you never have to actually use it. So testing it is difficult but I gave it a whirl as best as I could. First off I really liked how small the tool is. It’s nice and light and fits right in the palm of your hand. It comes with a holder that you can stick (with 3M sticky tape that it is attached to) to your car dash or window or wherever else you want to stick it to be able to grab quickly in the event of an emergency. However it’s small enough to fit in your console as well. If you remove the cap on one end, it’s a window breaker. Only it doesn’t have the sharp metal piece on the outside— it’s on the inside (this took me a stupid amount of time to figure out so be advised as it doesn’t come with any directions). You have to press it against something solid fairly hard and then the metal piece snaps out really fast— kind of like a stamp or a self-administered shot. I tested it on a flat piece of cardboard and it left a small but distinct hole in the cardboard. You’re supposed to do that on each of the four corners of the window you want to break out of. I’ll assume that that will work. Next, on the other end of the tool, you can remove the cap to reveal a tiny blade. You’re supposed to thread the seatbelt through and it claims it will cut through the seatbelt. This is where IMO the tool comes up a bit short— literally. I threaded a piece of cardboard through, figuring cardboard is probably easier to cut through than a seatbelt, given this is essentially a contained box cutter. It made a small cut in the cardboard but since the blade is small and contained, it was hard to get it to keep cutting further. It just seemed like it wasn’t as sharp as it needed to be and I question if it could cut through a seatbelt, and if it could, how long that would actually take. In an emergency situation where the car is filling with water for example, time is of the essence and I don’t know that this tool would be up for the challenge of actually breaking you out of a car in a short amount of time. Add to that the possibility of you being being injured in any way and I just really question how truly life-saving this would be. Would the water fill up the car before you could escape? Not sure I really trust this tool to find out. ... show more

This little window breaker is super lightweight, but don't let you think that impacts the power of the SNAP when you use it to crack open a window in an emergency. You might be scared to use it that first time.. I tested it on non-glass initially and WOW it put a hole / dent into the thing I was using as an example. When you use it against tempered glass though, all bets are off and it'll provide that needed power to just break the window solidly. The seat belt cutter works great - tried on twine and and old fire hose toy. Have not found a way to test the glass yet, but will update after a trip to the junk yard :) It comes with a holder that mounts well in the car.
