On a scale of 1-10 (10 being opaque), I would give them a 6. I am using them for coloring not highlighting, so I like them. Very nice to use on smooth paper. The media could not be loaded. I personally love gel highlighters and when I saw these color options I wanted to try .. as you can see in the video I drew the D on top of the 2nd highlighted line, it felt like crayon so you won’t be able to write on-top of a highlighted area, it is smearable so best not for professional documents and I would probably reach for the light blue (4th line) light green (5th line) or the peach (last line) I also tried it with the pages of a bible and same results .. maybe the pastels would be a better choice. ... show more

My mom has a retractable crayon type highlighter that I really like. It’s not messy like using a regular highlighting marker and doesn’t bleed through the other page. I bought these thinking they were like hers but they aren’t. They are way too soft so they smudge really badly. I have to scrape some off so that my pages don’t stick together. I’m mot sure what other use they would have but definitely not for highlighting. ... show more

    • Will smear and cake on to pages.
I am disappointed in this purchase. The material cakes on to the pages of various books. They are a very similar consistency of a lipstick produce. Colors are also very dark to be beneficial as a highlighter.

I was being adventurous with these but I will go back to a normal highlighters. Bleeds and the colors aren't that great and I choose the lighter colors.
