Firm and comfortable. I bought this for my mom. She is coming to stay with me for a year. It's very comfortable and firm. I am 5'3 and 175 lb. I kind of can feel the hardness of the floor when I lie on it. It is should be fine for my mom who is no more than 120lb. I am ordering a 2nd of this mattress. A lot of people left negative reviews regarding the thickness of the mattress and I just want to say you need to lower your expectations about how cushy a futon mattress is supposed to be. Im very content to sleep on it and it’s much thicker than a traditional futon mattress. If you want something thicker then go buy a blowup mattress :/ I will say my one main complaint is the fabric is pretty cheap and it’s comfortable but easily ripped. I’d venture to say it may not be worth the price bc of the quality of the materials but you sort of have to expect that if you’re gonna buy from an aMazøN seller. This futon is great. I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time now, and this futon fits the bill. We had a friend who was coming to visit and she needed a place to stay for one night. I didn’t have a spare bed so I scrambled onto Amazon and found this futon. My husband and I decided to buy it and give it a try, because we figured we could also use it for ourselves to have something soft to lay on while we play with our puppy. It’s incredibly pillowy soft, nice and thick to the point my friend visiting was able to sleep through the night even though she normally needs specific comforts to help her sleep. While I don’t know if it is 4 inches thick, it is way better then sleeping on the floor and makes it more comfortable. The description for this item is very deceiving. They said it’s a 4 inch thick tatami. It’s barely 1”-2” after letting it “expand” for 2 full days! It feels like just a thick blanket, not even a pillow. I wanted to love this item because I thought it was beautiful and would make a great guest room/kids bed for when my nieces and nephews are over. But I’m going to return it.
