I've actually used this coco coir as a substrate to grow gourmet mushrooms, and it worked absolutely phenomenal for me! I have used a few different brands out there, and this seems to be on par with the Zoo Med kind I normally use. My only issue with this brick is that it only came with one brick. I probably wouldn't consider getting this brand again only because I want to get multiple bricks at a time, and only one doesn't do a whole lot for my purposes. But if you only needed a little coir for a terrarium or amphibian habitat I could see someone really liking that this brand is "organic" but think all the kinds I've used are "organic" its coconut husk after all.... But that being said I know some brands include trich for growing certain flowers and such, so do pay attention to any additives! So, my final conclusion is that this stuff is pretty darn good, but for a cheaper price point I would rather buy more than one brick at time. Not only is this cheaper in the long run I'm not constantly having to stop at the local pet store or remember to order more online. But this brand worked exactly as I thought it would and I didn't notice any large chunks, all finely ground coir.

A bit of water and a few minutes makes this hard brick turn into a lot of moisture loving filler. I used this product alone to help germinate my seeds, and also used it as topper on other pots to keep the soil moist. I was able to fill five seedling trays, with plenty leftover for other projects and planting. I love this product and consider it a must have for any gardener. Recommended!
