Description

ZDDPlus is an oil supplement that contains very high concentrations of the well-known additive ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl Dithiophosphate), which has been the primary EP (extreme pressure) ingredient in all quality motor oils for over 70 years. However, beginning in the late 1980s, the concentration has been greatly reduced as newer oil classifications have come on the market. ZDDPlus is the ONLY EP (Extreme Pressure) component which re-establishes the ZDDP levels that classic car engines were designed for, while allowing the car owner to use the base oil of their choice. ZDDPlus also alters bearing and journal surface characteristics to prevent metal to metal contact. Under extreme conditions like a high performance motor, ZDDP reduces the tendency of parts to scuff or gall under heavy loads. While some off-the-shelf additives may have some ZDDP but the amount per bottle is small. ZDDPlus is not a typical oil additive. It is compatible with all conventional and synthetic oils intended for automotive use. By adding a small 4 ounce bottle of it at every oil change, an adequate amount of Zinc and Phosphorus will continue to protect your engine.

  • Valve train insurance policy for $12 is a bargain
With a product like this, most people will never know for sure how well it performs. Based on the many articles I've read, it is a worthy addition to the oil change on any older (pre-cat) car that you want to keep on the road. My CA smog check inspector told me that SM/SN motor oils are responsible for getting more old cars off the road (mainly from flat tappet camshaft wear) than any emissions laws ever did, and I believe him. We are using ZDDPlus as cheap insurance to help us sleep at night. I had a question about mixing ratios for a 7-qt engine and emailed the manufacturer. The director of engineering replied immediately with the exact information I needed, so ZDDPlus gets outstanding marks for customer service, too. ... show more

  • ZDDP - better alternative to oil with additives
I own a 1966 Corvette big block, and used to buy more expensive Valvoline VR1 motor oil in order to get the zinc additive that these older engines need. Although this engine doesn't have a mechanical cam shaft and solid lifters, as the one before, I still used it. Then I heard great things about ZDDP, which also contains phosphorus as an anti-wear additive. So instead of paying for over priced VR1 oil, I now buy conventional 10w40 and add a bottle of ZR1. ... show more
