Great little set. The nail clippers a not the best and seem duller then what I'm used to. Don't use the nail filer as we dermal. However it is nice and sturdy.

Our fur-baby means the world to us, so I've been overly hesitant to purchase a home grooming set. I've been too nervous about cutting his nails too short and causing an injury. However, the clippers in this set are wonderful! They were easy to use, and the guard on them gave me confidence about not going past the quick. I will say that they take a little getting used to. It was slow starting for me at first, but I was moving quicker and with more confidence by the second paw. Our fur baby didn't really care for the file. It seemed to work fine on smoothing out any edges after his nail trim, but he didn't really care for that part. Honestly, the clippers work so well, I really don't think the file is needed. Lastly, and the removal of one star, is the de-shedder. It works fine, but there is room for improvement. According to video clip on the product description, the person used the de-shedder against the growth of the dog's fur and the tool held all of the fur. That didn't happen for me. Our fur-baby didn't like the feel of the groomer combing against his coast regardless of how slow and gentle my movements were. Even I could feel a slight tug, and it wasn't really trapping all of the fur. He definitely liked it better when I groomed with the growth of his hair instead; however, that left fur kind of going everywhere. It definitely works, but I would recommend doing this outside to save yourself less of a mess to clean. ... show more

The undercoat rake is the real star in this set. I have an older cat that isn't cleaning herself very well anymore. She is developing mats. This rake works awesome removing the mats with little irritation to the kitty. The file and clipper are more dog size than cat.

I stopped taking my Pomeranian to the groomers because they kept messing up her hair. I have been maintaining her hair myself for a few years now. I assumed with regular brushing and grooming a deshedding tool was not necessary. This kit proved me wrong.
