This is an update to my last review: the mat got dirty pretty quickly and somehow now there's a little scratch/slit in it upon opening it for the first use. On the 2nd use of this mat, I leaned on a zipper from my yoga jacket accidentally and it pressed into the yoga mat and left a tear. So, not exactly tearproof. While the mint green is beautiful, I would recommend a darker color to hide the easily dirtied mat. When I say the bag is cheap, it's an understatement; as well as, the carry strap. The bag sounds like paper and is loud. The strap is legit made from a shoestring. I rolled the mat up and used the string/strap overnight and now there are indentations from the string on the mat that won't go away. I've had my other Target yoga mat for close to 20 years and no scratches or rips in it at all ever but it's too thin so I purchased this one. I would not recommend this mat. Spend a little more for something better. I hope to return mine. :)

I'm not a yoga expert. I haven't been doing yoga for years. So I don't know much about yoga equipment, but I looked at many mats and researched a good bit before buying this mat. I've used it a few times and it seems to be exactly what I wanted. It's thick enough to provide a bit of cushioning where I need it, especially my hands when doing a downward dog or a plank. Sometimes I fold the end of the mat over to provide more cushioning. I honestly didn't think that the lines and decorations on the mat would help me at all (again, I'm no expert, I'm just happy to get into the right position by the time the instructor is moving on to the next pose!), but I actually find myself lining up my feet and hands with the markings on the mat. Also, the mat seems pretty durable so far. I've had to scoot my feet in one direction then the other, pivot, slide, etc., (not just step, but actually move my feet across the surface of the mat, which is not easy since the mat provides friction so you don't slip on your sweat) and the mat has not torn yet. I'm a pretty heavy girl, so I was pleasantly surprised that the weight pressing down from my feet onto the mat didn't tear it in any way. And the back of the mat grips my laminate floors well. It doesn't slide at all. It seems to be easy to clean. I have dogs, so I sweep and then Swiffer my floors with a dry pad and then a wet pad before I work out. But there is inevitably still some dog hair and dirt left behind that get on my mat. It looks like it goes away when I just wipe it off with my hand when I notice it in the middle of my workout. I got my daughter one as well and she loves it, too!

This mat is fine for yoga and pilates or any floor workout. it is a good thickness and doesn’t hurt my knees or back. my first mat ripped but i easily got it replaced. A downside to this mat is it does not have ANY traction or grip for hot yoga. i find myself slipping constantly. I will need to buy a yoga towel or a different mat all together. Also, the carrying strap broke. The mat does lay flat after being rolled.
