I used mine as a base unit for a table in my living room. I left the wheels off the unit and made a full base for it because it is on carpeting and I do not want it to move. Then I made a new raised top so I would have a shelf for my laptop. I used a white plastic wall covering on the shelf and the top. The wall covering is great for cleaning and durability plus it takes your eyes off all that black and brightens the room. The base unit gives me three drawers and two bookshelves. The draws open and close smoothly, they are deeper than i thought which is great. You can adjust the file draw size to fit larger file folders. The locks work well and there is plenty of room on the shelves

Update: Be careful. I left the keys in the locks and my chair got too close and bent one of the keys. If you lock all 3 and don't have the keys in the locks, obviously not an issue but then you potentially have to try 3 keys to find the one you need because all 3 locks are separately keyed. I've put together a lot of this stuff. I thought this one would be a bit complicated because of the drawers, primarily. I asked my son to help since he's always able to do them no matter how complicated. But it wasn't hard at all. I could have done it myself (71 female) but having him help worked great when putting the sides together just so one of us held stuff. I bought this one specifically because the file drawer locked. All the others had just the top drawer locking and I would have no need for a lock on that drawer. If any, I wanted the file drawer to lock. I don't need the 2 small drawers to lock but this unit was the cheapest with a lock on the file drawer. Cheaper even than some with no lock. But the price did change a lot from $89.99 to $101.99 then back and forth a few more times and was $99.99 when I was ready to buy making it not the cheapest at that time. But the other thing to watch out for is that some of these 'file' drawers aren't actually big enough to hold files. Can't figure that one out. This unit definitely fits files so that was my final determining factor. Happy with the purchase. ... show more

The package came early and was nicely packaged. The pieces are solid with detailed installation instructions. All of the hardware is labeled and even included a small Phillips head screwdriver. If you have put furniture together before this should be no problem. The instructions are good that even if this is your first to assemble you can do it. It would help to have a 2md person when flipping the unit is needed. The wheels are solid and has a wheel in the middle of the unit for support. The locks are not super secure but better than nothing. I bought this to hold two laser printers which I can fit in the two wide spaces. Overall a nice unit for the price. ... show more
