  • **PLEASE READ** This thing rocks!
I was hesitant, considering the reviews about the instructions. But nevertheless, I took a chance and built the 6 x 12 structure this past weekend. A few beers and curse words later, and she's up and solid. A few pointers: - TAKE YOUR TIME! When you open the boxes, you'll be overwhelmed with all the parts. Take the time to organize the parts in numerical order and sort them all out. Trust me! - PULL OUT THE DECODER The instructions admittedly aren't fantastic. Some of the pictures are hard to figure out, and you may get confused by how some parts are supposed to fit together. PATIENCE! Once you start putting it together, the pictures will make a lot more sense, and you start figuring it out pretty quick for the rest of the build. - TRUST THE PROCESS! You'll start building the sections and the pieces, being made of aluminum, seem a bit flimsy. Trust me when I say that once it all goes together, this thing is solid. - FOUNDATION IS KEY Please build yourself a solid foundation. Take the time with some treated lumber and build a quick foundation. A few deck screws and lock washers, and this thing will survive a tornado (I hope). Despite my initial reluctance, I am beyond happy with how it turned out. As long as you take your time, study the instructions, and carve out a solid weekend, you'll have a pretty sweet greenhouse in no time! ... show more

  • Bent parts and bad directions
Product came pretty fast in two separate boxes. Definitely will need more than one person. The directions are not clear it will show you to place a bolt in one spot and not specify to repeat steps in other spots etc. furthermore after getting most of the sections built we realized a lot of the roof section was bent. The window section number five are mixed with section number four making it very easy to misplace the window. The roof being bent has created a gap in the windows which is not satisfactory. I have yet to put the rest of the panels in due to weather but may be writing another review. Also I found no videos for this current build so may make one for YouTube. I think for the price point the materials should have been more sturdy and directions way more clear and easy to follow. ... show more

  • Highly Do Not Recommend
Instructions were titled Pure and Easy assembly; the instructions were not accurate or fit for the greenhouse I purchased. For something I spent over $300 on I expected a much better quality. The metal material was not very sturdy and overly flexible for my liking. Even following the instructions which were very minimalistic and non-descriptive; there was no way to mount the greenhouse to the frame and a few other issues. For a mechanically inclined person it took me 6 days to follow the instructions and build the greenhouse.10/10 would not buy again! ... show more

  • Was it a dream to assemble or a nightmare?
Just WoW! Assembly of this green house could not have been easier. I’d say it took me less than two hours from opening the box to completion and this was working by myself. The Chinese definitely knew what they were doing here. These were the most clear and detailed instructions I have ever seen. No guesswork involved. Everything needed was included in the box – including tools. The only way this could have been easier is if the entire thing had arrived preassembled and dropped in the location where I wanted it. That was fantasy. Here is the reality. I apologize in advance that it is so long. My son and his wife built the frame. Although they accomplished it in a day, he came very close to being committed to a mental institution. It appears that this thing has 10,001 parts that too often didn't seem to fit together quite right. When it came to nuts and bolts, the manufacturer went to great pains to provide the exact number required. No extras in case some were poorly manufactured or lost during the assembly process. Don’t lose any! Two little flat one ended box wrenches were included, but if you don’t have an electric drill and the appropriate socket, beware! When you complete the project, (assuming you do complete it), your hands will take on the shape of a clenched claw, your wrist will be in a cast and you will be speaking in tongues spewing profanities you didn’t know were in your vocabulary. The instructions had plenty of pictures and some printed words, but they were so vague, unclear and complicated that I doubt they could have been properly deciphered using a Rosetta Stone. Somewhere in China there is a team of engineers laughing their asses off. My son did not use the metal base for the greenhouse. Instead, I had him build a frame using 2x12’s. The greenhouse was built on top of that, (well, the green house frame was built and then lifted and placed on the 2x12 frame), and screwed down with screws I supplied. This because it raises the roof and the top of the doorway an extra foot. Not doing this would require me to duck my head every time I entered the structure which I knew would inevitably result in me constantly bumping my head by not ducking down quite far enough. I instead elected to step over the raised threshold. A wise decision. I’d rather step over that threshold than be constantly whacking my noggin on the header. A side effect of this 2x12 frame was that it made the structure much more sturdy. Stability was also helped by sticking 4x4 posts in the ground inside the corners. My son was finished with his task of assembling the frame and wanted nothing more to do with completing the build so I corralled my other son to help me put all the panels on. Another nightmare. This took us maybe four hours. The panels are extremely flimsy. If there is any wind at all while mounting them then you risk the possibility of them folding in half. This is also a possibility if you aren’t careful just peeling the panel’s plastic films off. The clips alone will barely hold the panels in place. (One good thing is that the manufacturer included lots of extra clips. They were needed.) Glass glue, (not included), is recommended, but I chose instead to purchase and use ten ounce tubes of clear silicon applied with a calking gun. A messy affair, but the panels were better held in place once the silicone cured. It took five tubes. Unfortunately, my first son must have gotten some of the assembly wrong, (it couldn’t possibly be inaccurate tolerances due to poor design), because as my second son and I tried to apply the panels we ran into an issue on either end. There are large panels for the bottom of the walls and then specially cut panels for the gables. Where these two panels meet there is a strut provided that is supposed to go in between them with each panel fitting snugly into grooves in this strut. Not gonna happen. We pushed the gable panels up as high as possible and the wall panels down as far as possible yet they still overlapped by as much as three quarters of an inch. Forcing the strut in would cause significant bowing and possibly cracking of the ill fitting panels. My work around was more silicone, slap a piece of packing tape on to hold the panels in place and, after drilling holes in them, I just screwed the otherwise unusable struts on top of the spot where the panels overlapped. There was an aluminum cross piece behind the panels I was able to screw to. (Your experience may vary.) The door assembled fairly easily and is pretty light weight. It’s kind of rickety sliding back and forth on it’s track. I fear a butterfly crashing into it might knock it out of alignment. The wheels on top are up/down adjustable about a quarter of an inch. The bottom of the door didn’t want to stay on the track, but I feel that may be because of my own modification building the green house on that 2x12 frame. The board under the door may have had a slight crown with that crown actually being up side down causing a slight imperceptible U shape. The door’s track followed the shape of the board allowing the door to come off of the track. We fixed this by sticking a 2x4 under the track on the face of the 2x12, pushing it up in order to push the track up a bit and screwing that 2x4 in. Problem solved. In the end, the frame is very sturdy, but I am not confident that the panels will hold up and stay in place during a strong wind despite all that silicone. Also, the worst hail we have around here is usually no more than the size of a quarter, but I feel it unlikely the panels would survive it. (We’ve only had tennis ball sized hail once in the last fifteen years.) As for over all durability - time will tell, but confidence is not high. My son’s and I are pretty handy. Doing plumbing, electrical, working with machinery and with electronics. I installed my new central air system - A/C and furnace - myself. We’re lucky because it seems to come naturally. We’ve built large workshops and roofed buildings. We even built a pond with fountains, waterfalls and covered decks in the back of the property and filled it with catfish and bass so I can fish there. There has been little that I’ve ever felt was beyond my ability, but I met my match with this green house. This should not have been so difficult, but it was a horror show. Never before have I been unable to complete a job alone that was recommended to have at least two people. This build required a team and was a new experience for me. However, don’t let me scare you off. You could have a completely different experience than I did. Just have a sedative for yourself handy when you start the project. Maybe a case or two of beer. Would I buy it again? Probably not because I wouldn’t want to have to build it again. If I didn’t get such a good price using card points and discounts that knocked $300 off the cost, I probably wouldn’t have purchased this one. They all seem to be basically the same anyway. If I were to decide I wanted another green house, I would likely run down to my local big box home improvement store, buy the lumber and other needed materials and just build using my own design. ... show more
