  • Accurate for woodworking
Color: Orange
First set received was missing the 1/8th size block and instead contained two 3/32 blocks. Which is OK - seller made it right and sent a new set quickly. From what I‘be measured with a fairly accurate gauge, these seem to be very accurate. They’re not machinist gauge blocks, they’re for woodworking, so for the price they’re great. ... show more

  • Easily within the tolerance of your very best conventional woodworking machine.

Yiranok Setup Block Height Gauge Set - Precision Aluminum Router Table Set Up Bars - 15 Pcs Table Saw Accessories Woodworking Tools - Gift Choice for Carpenter, Construction, DIY Handyman (ORANGE) These are fine. These are not machinist gage blocks just get that out of your head, But for precision woodworking absolutely fantastic. Remember your wood shrinks and expands throughout the course of a day. Your saw blade is going to have some run out (vibrational wobble). A little piece of dust on your router table is going to change the depth a little bit. Machinist level precision is not really smart for woodworking. But you can get close. In my shop I basically had two machines that I could dial in close to machinist precision One was a hammond trimosaw g44b with a forrest blade-- I actually got the run out to 0.0005. But that's 100-year-old saw that was designed for typeset a whole different level of precision. The other was a framesquare saw for dedicated 45° picture frame mitres. Once I got that dialed in right neither radial arm saws or solid chop saws came close to how dialed in that baby was. What I'm getting at is I understand precision and I understand woodworking and those two examples were very niche specialty type equipment where flawless was necessary, expected and kept. But also required daily calibration and fussy setups. Some speciality machines have the ability to do precision calibration most woodworking machines don't have that capability. Period. This set of set up blocks Is going to get you to about as good as you're going to get. Like I said there are a number of factors that influence precision in woodworking, The very simplest of which is youre working with a tape measure that has a push-pull tongue with a rivet that determines how tight your tolerances are and there's a good chance you're already out 1/16 of an inch over 12" never mind the fact that your tape measure itself expands and contracts from temperature--at 8 feet youre out an eigth. If your router table is not ground dead flat edge to edge and you have say a slight variance and your board dips into that shallow, you have a slight deflection in your cut where you're board follows that slight variance and then lifts up again on the end of the stroke. Maybe ever so slight but it's there. However there's a good chance you can't measure it you can't see it and no one is ever going to know that it was there. I guess the point I'm trying to make is I measured these blocks with the micrometer and although they don't read exactly 0.0005" level of precision they do read well enough to be very precise for woodworking purposes given all the variables that come into play like sawdust on the table temperature and humidity variances, table variances, working with a board that's not dead flat, off 90° cuts etc. Bottom line is I think this is a good set of blocks. Because i say so and i am a grumpy old shop codger. Easy to recommend them for the price. You will live them. Dont overthink it. ... show more
