  • The Rolls Royce of Coolers
First, a disclaimer. I would not have purchased this product if I didn't have points to knock the price down. This is a premium priced cooler by a long shot and pretty hard to justify if you are comparing to other typical products found in a store. That being said, you will never be disappointed with the performance of the product. Loaded up with ice, the ice will stay frozen for days (like 5 or more). The insulation of the thing is unbeatable. Its built like a tank, and loaded up it is heavy and will take two people to move. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth it
Took it on a two week camping trip. Filled it with a solid block of ice, added food, and finished by topping it up with ice cubes. In 90 degree weather we kept it in the shade but only had to top off the ice cubes (I think we added 5 lbs) about every 4 or 5 days. When we got home the the solid block of ice had shrunk but it was still pretty good sized. We've taken it several times since for a week at a time in cooler weather and haven't had to add ice. We always start the cooler with an ice block and completely packed with ice cubes around the food and try to place it in the shade. This cooler is expensive but it really worked well for us. Unless you have a specific need for a long term cooler it probably would be cheaper to buy another brand and just top it up day or two. I doubt you'll ever save enough money on ice to justify it. If you want to spend more time on the boat, in the woods etc and not making ice runs then this one is for you. ... show more

  • Awesome cooler!
We purchased this for an extended remote camping trip. Not only is it critter proof, it keeps ice for days. I pre-chilled it the night before our trip with a bag of ice. I also froze the meat we were taking. On the morning of our trip, I filled it up with some drinks and all of our perishables. A six hour drive, an hour boat trip, and five nights later, we still had a lot of ice. The rest of the ice didn't melt until more than two days after we got home. Our other cooler had to be have ice added every day or two. This year we are planning a seven day trip and I am confident the cooler will keep our food fresh and safe. It is a little heavy, probably over 100 pounds when filled, but we managed to get it up a steep little hill to our camping spot. The handles help a lot. This cooler is SOLID! It makes a nice airtight sshh sound when you open or close it. It will last the rest of my life. Quality! ... show more

  • Does the Job
We take our Yeti with us on every camping trip now! It stays cool for days at a time if packed properly, especially if we use the two 4lb yeti ice packs in the bottom and freeze as much of our food for the trip as possible beforehand. My only hesitation in recommending this is the price, a Yeti cooler is extremely expensive compared to similar competitors on the market now. At this point in the cooler technology game, you are partially paying for a great cooler and mostly paying for the "luxury-cooler-that-is-Yeti" brand name. We purchased this using gift cards from holidays and our wedding that we had been saving up, otherwords we may have looked at other options for camping coolers. ... show more

  • Not worth the money. Poor performance.
This did not hold ice for nearly as long as advertised. Followed directions to a tee. Cooled the cooler off for a day first, with one pound of ice cubes. Chilled everything I put into it for two days before filling. Made 1LB blocks of ice and filled the bottom and sides with 7 blocks. Filled with beverages, and topped off with ice cubes until there was no space left in cooler. All ice was "dry", not wet. Left under my camper with a moving blanket over it for 36 hrs without opening, and came back to most of the ice cubes melted, and the blocks of ice about half melted. Literally the water bottles had melted into the blocks making concaves. The air temperature was about 90ºF with 100% humidity, but these are supposed to hold ice in the worst of Texas heat. I had to go home and I came back with a small igloo cooler(not chilled first though) set up the same with block ice, cubes, and chilled water bottles, and didn't even cover it, just kept it out of the sun, and the ice lasted just as long. Both about 2 1/2 days to reach the same amount if ice melt. Definitely all hype, and not worth the money. The more I research Yeti, the less I like the company. I will be trying other rotomolded coolers to see how they compare. I would not, and am not, recommending this product. ... show more
