I followed Yeti's recommendations to pre-cool the cooler with a bag of ice a day or two before dumping in chilled food/drinks. Just like a home, you need to heat or cool down the insulated walls to get the best efficiency....

Bought it for my boyfriend for a gift for his USMC contract ending. . even though I thought it was ridiculous to spend this much on a cooler. . and now I want a small one for myself. It really does everything they advertise. Tail gates, camping, parties, hunting, whatever, it works. It's heavy, but it is pretty large so that isn't shocking. Things keep so well! ... show more

Y’all already know this but just remember this cooler is very heavy. When filled with ice etc it should be considered a two person lift. Also if you have little kids don’t keep the lid open - it will close easily on small fingers. Obviously it’s a yeti so cooling performance is too notch but they really need a new cooler that cools as well at half the weight - and spring loaded lid for kids ... show more
