These are almost perfect. The handles are great, the locking mechanism is great, the price is perfect, the feel is great too. I just wish the rod could hold a bit more weight.

It's made of plastic but I only use it for deadlifting so it works for me. It seems pretty solid, but I'm not going to test that theory with any swiniging movements like I would a solid metal kettlebell.

I bought these because they are very affordable for a two pack. I think the highest amount of plates I can put on it is about 62.5 lbs. I do only recomend it for squats, side laterals. Nothing overhead or with swinging. If doing any overhead moves than you really shouldn't add much weight because they are made out of plastic. I got them mostly to do kettlebell swings, but I don't do them because I feel like they'd break if I add too much weight. You should get metal ones for heavy duty excersize. The handles make pretty good pushup handles so they can be used for something! Be sure to look at all the buying options because a pair was about the same price as one. Those light plastic screws for weights make me nervous especially after reading reviews and seeing pictures where they broke off! I have several different size dumbbell bars and some are just right for screwing into the handle. You can unscrew one end and screw it into the handle and use the metal dumbbell screw to hold it. But of course the whole dumbbell hangs on the bottom and you have plastic threads on the metal dumbell. But if you look at pictures where this broke it was the plastic screw. The dumbbell will definitely not break. The plastic handle still could but it feels more solid than the screw. Time will tell! ... show more

I should have read the description better. I wasn't expecting the item to be made of plastic. Or at least it feels like it's only plastic. I hoping there's some inner skeletal metal reinforcement.
