It's unreal how much a simple set of dumbbells can cost, these days. I wanted to order a twist-to-select set, but I'd read too many concerns that they aren't very reliable when using them overhead, and I like my face OK as it is. I've owned locking collar dumbbells before, and this inexpensive set is as good as any. The packaging was heavy, as expected, but the contents were individually bubble wrapped, the box foam lined, and double cardboarded. Sounds excessive, but it wasn't. The star collar and the dumbbells had rubber washers to help secure the plates - they will tend to loosen, but you can always get better washers at the hardware store. The plates are industrial looking - nothing fancy - but has the weight clearly indicated on both sides. I probably would not order these plates for a wet/humid location, but I'll use them indoors; this set would be perfect in a fancy home gym or an apartment bedroom. This is a great bang for the buck, and I searched for several weeks before ordering when they were discounted. Good luck! ... show more

These are unobtrusive kept in the corner of our small living room, and the range of weight is perfect for me (43 yo woman, have been lifting weights at home for less than a year). I bought these after the other weights I have became too light for my workouts.

These are great, I wanted extra weights so I can slowly add more and more to be able to lift. Love how good quality they feel. Side note the weights on these are not the ones they come with.
