I was looking to buy the Bowflex SelectTechs for my home workouts, but couldn't get over the price. So what I did instead was purchased 3 sets of these 40 lb dumb bells. My mail carrier was displeased, but with shipping they cost me half of what the Bowflex SelectTechs would have. They may be a little bit less convenient from a set-up time aspect, but with 3 sets I can adjust them all before my workouts and not have to worry about changing things in between sets too much. I can also take the 5 lb weight plates from my two other sets of dumb bells and stack them on the handles I'm using for added weight. In comparison to other reviews: There was no foul oder coming from these as other customers have said, just a little bit of grease on the plates themselves. Nothing a little water and soap can't fix. No problems with paint peeling either. The seller also supplied rubber washers to keep the caps from unscrewing during odd angle lifting. On a side note, the plates on these can also be used on any 1 inch curl bar, which makes life a lot easier for me. They definitely make my workouts better because of the weight variety and they also make my wallet very happy.

These items are a bargain for the $30 price tag. The V bar is great, smooth all around and seems to be similar in quality to the bars at my local gym. The straight bar is decent although it was rusted right out of the box (see photo). The swivel portion is pretty sloppy when compared to a more expensive bar.

These weights are great. I had no trouble with them right out of the box. They were packaged well and arrived with no damage. It's very easy and straightforward to put them together and all the parts were there. I'm a complete noob when it comes to weightlifting so I got the smallest set. The lightest you can make them is 8 pounds each (two 3 pound weights on each end + the bar weighing 2 pounds), which seems to be good for beginners like me (I'm a petite female). I got these because they are adjustable, you can add weight to them as you get stronger. You're not stuck with some 1 to 3 pound neoprene covered dumbbells gathering dust in a corner because you outgrew them.

I bough these a few months ago and so far they're working out perfectly. I did read a review before purchasing about the rubber pieces falling off and they do in fact do that a lot. MAKE SURE you have those rubber, circular pieces on BOTH ends or else the weights will shift and you won't get a secure fit when using them. There is one where you put on the weights and another inside the circular screw. When you do a lot of removing of the weights, the one in the screw will come out a lot so be careful to check it every time it's removed. I plan on purchasing more plates but for now, these work great.

These barbells serve their function and are of pretty good quality. I got them as a spare pair and so do not use them daily. It's convenient that one doesn't have to purchase several different barbells of different weights since these are adjustable. I do notice that during use even with the supports firmly tightened, they do tend to loosen and then the plates get a bit shifty. The silver coating on the bars also peels a little bit. Other than that, they are functional and get the job done.

I am very pleased with this purchase for my son. They are good quality dumbbells, easy to hold/grip and good for beginners. I purchased the 40lb. Option and expected to receive the connector but upon contacting the seller they clarified it's an additional charge for the connector. Although, the description mislead me, the seller was excellent at clarifying the situation. They responded quickly to my concerns and let me Know I could still purchase the connector at a later date.

Pretty good so far, only used it a couple of times. Only issue is the screws that hold the plates in place come loose very easily so it's a bit scary doing curls and then randomly noticing one of the plates swirling about to fall down. Also the hard metal can KILL your fingers if you're not careful- when dealing with the loose plates watch that your fingers don't get pinched. Additionally, with these you NEED weight lifting gloves or you'll get blisters after the first lift.

Great dumbbells for the price. You might think dumbbells are dumbbells but the small details make them easier and safer to use. For example the grip section of the bar is metal instead of rubber like my current ones. The rubber will soon break apart and no longer protect your hands from the weights. The locking spindles also have a rubber ring to lock them better in place. The plating of the weights and bar look to be good quality to reduce rusting or chipping. You definitely don't want that stuff falling into your eyes while benching with them. Standard 1 inch bar will allow mix and match weights from other brands.
