  • Single Living Kotatsu ( Japanese )
Sturdy, reverseable top. One side a modern black, the side shown is a retro single living kotatsu look. I do not live single, my best friend and I, both smaller women. But mostly myself using solo. Check size. In Japan this is considered for "single living" You can get them in full kitchen table, have dinner with my friends and plenty of leg room sized kotatsu if needed Incredible heater. You must use with stepdown transformer, 120V primary side and 100V secondary side. Able to touch heater when on, no burns. Used duvet king sized with king size sailor moon duvet cover. Kotatsu futon ordered on Amazon Japan Editing to add what the chair shown in my photo is, search for "HIHIP Patented Hip Correction Japanese Legless Floor Chair" here on Amazon. ... show more

  • Excellent!!
I received it this morning(12-16-2021), opened it and inspect it but so far I found no damage anywhere specially on the top-plate which is reported by many reviewers. I'm so happy. I followed it up with ordering queen size comforter(about 90"x90" or somewhere close) from Amazon and it's supposed to be on the way. It's a cheap way(both initial cost and energy cost to keep it up) to keep yourself warm in the winter. Update: the comforter was delivered yesterday(12-9--2021) and I put everything together. Everything in order now. update(1-4-2022) It works without converter just fine. I found a minor blemish on the darker side of the top plate, I decided to flip it over to the lighter color side This unit is now sold at $285(5-19-22) I paid something like $215 for it in (Dec.-2021). How lucky I am( I had no idea of upcoming inflation). The power is also the lowest you can find at 300watts full power(If it's not turned all the way up, it works intermittently, probably equivalent of 100watts continuous). This means amazingly low operating cost. It's still warm enough in Southern California winter. The average power of other stand alone heaters are about 1500watts. Japanese know how to save energy cost. I have no cats, by the way. ... show more

  • The enjoyment you get from having a kotatsu is the only factor you should consider
If you are like me, you probably saw the price for this kotatsu and were appalled. "Could it really be worth it?" Well, it sort of is and sort of isn't. If you live in America, this is the cheapest available kotatsu, trust me I've checked. The only way to get one for cheaper is if you decided to build one yourself from scratch. So, you don't really have a choice. For me it was worth it to buy because I couldn't be bothered to try and build one that would end up being poorly made anyway, even if I saved some money. The quality of materials is absolutely not worth the price however, but it's easy to understand why. The same kotatsu on Amazon Japan costs something around $90, meaning of course the price comes mostly from import cost. That all being said, I am extremely happy with it and loving sitting at it all the time. Just the enjoyment and novelty of it made it worth it for me, so if you're thinking of buying it, just buy it! Your enjoyment from having this kotatsu is the only factor you should consider when buying it. And just so you know, officially the heater shouldn't be used with 120V in North America since it was designed for 110V. But I've been using it just fine since I bought it and have had no issues, yet anyway. ... show more

  • NEET Table
As a filthy plebian wagie, owning a kotatsu is as close to the NEET dream as I will ever come. It's very comfy, but it makes me very sad at the same time. In all seriousness, it's a great table. A little low to the ground for me to comfortably lie on my side under it...another inch would make a big difference there. The heater is EFFICIENT. I don't have a proper quilted futon, just a thin fleece throw that I'm sure leaks a lot of heat. The temperature still gets uncomfortably warm within 10 minutes on full power. I set it at less than half during the winter. I bought an SK-10E solid-state converter and the heater unit works great with it. My only real complaint, other than the height, is the legs. They're hollow plastic, not wood, and I think they flex too much. I'm very careful not to kick them by accident when getting in or out from under the table. I don't know if they'd survive the hit. The build quality of the top and heater is excellent. Don't let the meme be a dream. Buy yours today! ... show more

  • Good
Saved a lot of money. I set up my central heating lower like 58-9 f, but used Kotatsu. My cats love it. I didn’t purchase Kotatsu futon. I used full size comforter and covered table cloths for keeping it clean. Worked perfectly.

  • Happy with the purchase!
I have had it for over two years and moved twice with it. Not only is it easy to assemble, but it's also sturdy and easy to maintain. The heater is perfect for cold, winter days. I use it daily for eating and studying, and it has enough space to place food for four people. Although it may seem pricey, I've already gotten my money's worth out of daily use. ... show more

  • Fantasticly Bad
This table is heavenly. I will never leave. Such warmth. 10/10. Yes. Excellent. Edit- Absolutely terrible. Broke after barely 2 months. The frame is just garbage construction. Its wobbly, and awful and can’t support any weight apparently. If you are looking for furniture that is durable, avoid this expensive trash like the plague. It was fun while it lasted. And it didn’t last very long. ... show more

  • Y’all just get it you weebs
Love it! Works well, need to get a transformer. I don’t have an expensive kotatsu blanket yet but this old one fits pretty well and is quite warm by itself. I can’t imagine what it’ll be when I have a puffy, quilted one! It’s tall enough to fit my 30 inch thick crossed legs if you worry about size. I like the adjustable heat but wish I didn’t have to reach underneath to adjust it, and could just use the chord where the power switch is. Also suggest buying at least a floor cushion to sit on, it kills my back to sit on the hard floor for a long period of time. I have one now and I find myself losing hours to the thing. Sit on my couch? Nah. It’s cold, I immediately plop down in front of the kotatsu. ... show more
